Photos of Yamashita Park

Yamashita Park is closely connected to Yokohama Port. The park is very worth seeing are the tiles paved on the park road, followed by the more than 100 ancient ginkgo trees planted on both sides of the road. Walking on the tiled road, looking at the tall ginkgo trees on both sides and the seascape in the distance, is really a very comforting thing. Yamashita Park is a very famous park in Yokohama. It is a park that was reclaimed from the sea, and the earthwork required came from the waste land and rubble of the Great Kanto Earthquake. After four years of reclamation construction, it was opened to the outside world in 1930. There are many sculptures and monuments in the park, represented by the "Guardian of Water" donated by the city of San Diego, the statue of "Girl with Red Shoes", the protagonist in nursery rhymes, and the monument of "Mr. Sailor of the Seagull". There is also a cruise ship "Hakimaru" docked at the pier of the park. From 1930 to 1960, she was a regular cruise ship that sailed between Japan and North America. It was a very luxurious cruise ship in Japan at that time, and was titled "Queen of the Pacific". It has been converted into a sightseeing commemorative boat for the public to visit. In addition, there is a lighthouse with a tower height of 106 meters in the park. It was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of Yokohama Port. It is the tallest decagonal lighthouse in the world. Climbing to the observatory at the top of the tower, you can take a look at the surrounding scenery, including Mount Fuji, Tokyo Bay, Boso Peninsula, Yokohama Port and MM21, especially the night view of Yokohama area is intoxicating.
