Photos of Yuwengdao Lighthouse

Xiyu Lighthouse, also known as Yuweng Island Lighthouse, is a second-class historic site in Penghu. It was originally built in 1778 by Penghu Tongju and the Taiwan prefect. It has been renovated many times in the past 170 years since 1824. It now looks like a white lacquered iron column. The English inscription "DAVIDM.HENDERSON1874" on the triangular lintel at the entrance of the lighthouse is the signature of the lighthouse designer. There are three well-preserved stone steles in the courtyard, namely, the Stele inscription on the Construction of the Light of Xiyu Pagoda in 1778, the Inscription on the Completion of the Lamp of the Xiyu Pagoda in 1779, and the Inscription on the Lamp of the Xiyu Pagoda in 1828.
