Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Okinawa's BEST Aquarium
Exploring this aquarium was an absolute delight for our family. We were mesmerized by the captivating displays, which beautifully showcased a diverse range of sea creatures in their natural environments. Witnessing the graceful presence of the whale shark up close was a particular highlight for our children, and the multiple viewing spots provided unique perspectives throughout our visit. Not only was the experience both educational and entertaining, but it also left us with lasting memories of the ocean's wonders. As a helpful tip, just before reaching the souvenir shop at the end of the aquarium, there's an opportunity to have your photo taken and receive a complimentary printed copy along with a calendar. Additionally, there's the option to purchase a regular-sized print and a digital copy, which we couldn't resist due to their irresistible charm.
Wish I could visit Ocean Park's aquarium in HK as well!

Churaumi Aquarium - Okinawa
Churaumi Aquarium is located on the northern part of Okinawa, about an hour and a half drive from Naha. The aquarium is situated close to the seaside, where visitors can also enjoy the view of the ocean upon entering the aquarium. The aquarium features diverse species of marine life, which are predominantly native or can be found on the coasts of Japan. The aquarium is also the first facility in the world to artificially birthed a shark. Information on the marine species are available in both Japanese and English.

This is the Churaumi aquarium located in Motobu town, Okinawa. Travelling by car would be an easier choice but there are are also buses that you can take from the airport. I don’t know why but it just feels very therapeutic just to sit there and look at the large Kuroshio sea aquarium, looking at them swimming around. Also do catch their feeding time too! It’s interesting to watch. There is also beluga whale and dolphin show~ They are just too cute! There is also a small park and a sea view to enjoy~
I wish that I could visit more aquariums in the future
hello marine creatures!
It is a very nice place to immerse in the presence of marine creatures.
1. For the outdoors, there is a performance by the dolphins, which was very entertaining.
2. For the indoor, relax by watching the whale sharks swim around.
Do get an audio guide to appreciate more!

Ocean Expo Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Okinawa Attractions: Kouri + Churaumi
1. Kouri Ocean Tower
Address - 538 Kouri, Nakijin, Kunigami District, Okinawa 905-0406
Highlights - “Observation tower overlooking the sea.” Pictures do not give Kouri island justice. Tower is beautiful by itself but I think the ocean is the prettiest. Standing by the tower and seeing the bright blue of the ocean is a sight to see.
Rating - 4.2
2. Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
Address - 424 Ishikawa, Motobu, Kunigami District, Okinawa 905-0206
Highlights - The aquarium is actually located inside a large park area with other great attractions. The aquarium was once considered one of the biggest aquariums in the world. If you ever visit, you will notice that the place holds a variety of different marine animals and species. It can be very picturesque as well!
Rating - 4.3
Okinawa-forest tunnel to the sea
Really, Motobu Town in the north of Okinawa not only has the famous Ocean Expo Park, but also a very niche attraction called Fukumulin Road. This is a hidden village surrounded by Fukumulin, with a total of 20,000+ Shurong
For more than 300 years, Fukugi was planted by the Okinawa people who lived there for the sake of moisture and wind, and over time, it formed a pleasant forest rain road. When the weather is good, stroll through it.
The sun flickers among the dense foliage, the old tree roots are intertwined, as if entering the fairy tale world of the Wizard of Oz. There are two main roads in the entire area, as well as many dense trails leading to the seaside.
The end of the lush forest tunnel is the blue sea, so the quiet picture makes people look forward to it. Many Okinawa locals will come here to take pictures of wedding dresses!
Get the other side of the blue sky and sea of Okinawa. You can also rent a bicycle at the entrance, or experience the special buffalo cart, and have fun.
Enjoy a relaxing 6-day, 5-night trip to Okinawa
Okinawa consists of the main island and many outlying islands. On the main island, other than a single monorail line, transportation mainly relies on buses🚌 or taxis🚕. However, taxis are relatively expensive (starting fare is 550 yen for the first 1750 meters, then 70 yen for every subsequent 372 meters, and when traveling at speeds lower than 10km/h, an additional 70 yen is charged every 2 minutes and 15 seconds). For buses, some routes have long intervals between services, so it's recommended to confirm arrival times in advance (plan your trip with Google Maps). Therefore, it's personally recommended to join a tour group when visiting attractions in the southern or northern parts of the island.
D1: Arrive in Okinawa
It's suggested to choose accommodations near a monorail station.
D2: Day trip to the South
Cape Chinen (where you can see the colorful waters of the Pacific Ocean), Okinawa World (which includes Gyokusendo Cave, well worth a visit), and Senaga Island (where you can watch planes✈️ take off and land up close).
Since attractions are relatively scattered, it's advised to join a tour group.
D3: Day trip to the outlying islands
You can choose between the Kerama Islands or Tokashiki Island. On the outlying islands, you can arrange your day with various activities, stroll on the beach, or walk through country lanes.
D4: Day trip to the North
Recommended attractions: Manzamo, Ocean Expo Park (which is really large, with Emerald Beach, the beautiful Churaumi Aquarium, and dolphin shows), and Kouri Island.
It's suggested to join a day tour as attractions are quite spread out. Chartering a car is much more expensive compared to joining a tour, but it allows for a more flexible schedule.
D5: Whale watching at sea
The best time is from January to February. Join a local tour, with options for morning or afternoon sessions. It's personally recommended to choose the morning session. This way, you can return to the hotel at noon and spend the afternoon visiting places like Shuri Castle and Naminoue Beach.
D6: Return trip home
The above is based on personal travel experience and is for reference only. Itineraries can be arranged according to personal preferences.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message. Thank you☺️
Ocean Expo Park located at Okinawa, Japan is a very spacious park with several major attractions, including Tropical Dream Center, which has many tropical trees and flowers, and Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. Apart from the most visited aquarium, there are other facilities around the park. My favorite actually goes to the Sea Culture Museum with an impressive collection of canoes and ships, as well as anthropological exhibits of the Pacific Islands. Very impressive aquarium! Well maintained and the big shark tank is impressive! Dolphin show is nice too!

Tropical Dream Center Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Okinawa tropical
#thingstodo What a beautiful gem on the island of Okinawa. A well-designed and well-cared for botanical garden with an impressive array of butterflies along its easy to follow path. A great place to visit whether you’re living on the island or just visiting, and absolutely worth the drive from anywhere on the island. This is one of my favorite places on Okinawa.
Tropical Dream Center
#thingstodo It was very beautiful. We enjoyed our visit a lot. We went when the tulips were in bloom, which I highly recommend if you're here during that time.
Not the most stroller/wheel chair friendly. There were a few spots that did not have ramps or elevators to complete the tour of the center. We had to carry our stroller in these areas.
They have stamps kids can collect in different areas. There is also a craft area inside the building, a cafe, and a large area that looks like an arena where our kid played and ran.
Yaedake Sakuranomori Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Sakura is the national flower of Japan, and Okinawa is the earliest place for Japanese cherry blossoms. To see the cherry blossoms, Okinawa can sneak a sneak peek.
Yakusho is the earliest open place for Okinawa cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms that open from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain adorned the Yae-jou into a sea of flowers. Yae-Yue is very big, cherry blossoms are not concentrated, and many tourists are driving to watch. Because Yae-Yuyue has fewer cars and narrow roads, it is easy to cause traffic jams during cherry blossom viewing.
In addition, the famous street is also full of tourists who enjoy cherry blossoms. In addition to the cherry blossoms, the entire city will go to the party on the street, very lively. The famous park next to the Orion brewery is where the cherry blossoms bloom. The location of
Naha Cherry Blossom Festival is located in the Park of Heyi Park in Naha City, with about 400 cherry trees. It is not far from the international park, the Huwu, and the Makishi public market. Walking, monorail, or taxis are easy to reach.
