We had barely settled into our cabin at Cradle Mountain when a wombat appeared outside. Then came the wallabies. They returned the next morning too, giving us quite a welcome to the mountain. 🥰 We were there for two nights in early autumn. Day one was wet and rainy, but thankfully, the next morning looked much more promising. We started our hike early, heading along the Overland Track through forest and boardwalks. We passed a waterfall, spotted wombats along the boardwalk, and continued towards Crater Lake Lookout and Marion’s Lookout. Then the weather cleared. And suddenly, we got that postcard view — Cradle Mountain rising above Dove Lake. Absolutely beautiful. But we weren’t stopping there. We continued towards Kitchen Hut and then headed for Cradle Mountain Summit. The higher we climbed, the more adventurous it became. The trail turned rocky and steep, with icy patches, puddles and even snow underfoot. The wind was also getting seriously strong. Without proper hiking gear, we decided not to push for the summit. A little disappointing? Yes. The sensible choice? Definitely. 😅 Instead, we continued along the Face Track, passing Hansons Peak and eventually making our way back towards Dove Lake. There were rocky sections with ropes to help us along, making the return journey just as exciting as the climb up. By the time we reached the Dove Lake Boatshed, it was around 3–4pm. And, of course, the mountain had disappeared behind the clouds again! At least we had already captured our postcard moment earlier. From wombats at our cabin to snow on the trail, from sunny mountain views to wild winds and rope-assisted rocks — Cradle Mountain certainly gave us a day to remember. We didn’t make it to the summit, but we came away with something better: one seriously memorable mountain adventure. 😄

Traveling to Australia, this stop came to Hobart, the capital of Tasmania. Richmond Town is one of the oldest towns. Richmond Bridge is an arch bridge located in Richmond Town. It is the oldest bridge still in use in Australia. The bridge was built by convict laborers and completed in 1825. It was originally named Bigg Bridge, named after Royal Commissioner John Bigg. The raw material of Richmond Bridge is sandstone from the Butchers Hill Quarry, which was transported to the construction site by prisoners using carts. The bridge has four large arches and two small arches, all designed according to the characteristics of water flow.
陌染MMIt is a place where you can have close contact with kangaroos, Tasmanian Devils, wombat and other birds, etc. if you’re looking for a sanctuary to see the special wildlife of Tasmania, this is definitely a choice. The specialist will share with you the characteristics of wombats and Tasmania devils in those guided tours. Instead of visiting specific sanctuary, I think this Sanctuary is value for money if you have limited time. This is highly recommended for families and those interested in feeding kangaroos.
HK - WongSalamanca Market is a fantastic place to visit for a glance of the Hobart’s living with their local produces, daily food. A bonus of fine dining and souvenirs to take home.
YuppiJe🏔️ Mount Wellington: Hobart’s Majestic LookoutMount Wellington, known locally as kunanyi, towers above Hobart and offers one of Tasmania’s most breathtaking viewpoints. Rising to 1,271 meters, it provides sweeping panoramic views of the city, the Derwent River, and the surrounding wilderness. The changing weather adds drama, with mist, snow, or sunshine often appearing within hours. Well-marked trails, rugged rock formations, and native wildlife make it ideal for hiking and nature exploration. Easily accessible by road or trail, Mount Wellington is a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience Tasmania’s raw beauty and ever-changing alpine atmosphere.
Traveltheworld@bdThe whole property is very well maintained and we did a self guided tour, enjoyed the cruise, and extensive walks through the grounds and numerous buildings are allowed to be entered in to.
Anonymous userClose interaction with the wild animals. We saw Tasman devis and fed birds and kangaroos. Just not many places to dine and rest nearby.
Bella mumIts a suburb of the city of Hobart, Tasmania, named after the battery of guns established in 1818 as part of Hobart coastal defences.
YuppiJeIt couldn't be more pleasant to take a boat around the island on a group day tour! The blue sky and blue sea, and you can see wombats. The local one-day tour only has English. We are the only foreigners. The others are all local Australian aunties and uncles. The sea breeze is still quite cold when the boat starts, but it's worth it for the beautiful scenery. Some local aunties did a lot of homework and introduced us to the rock types and formation ages along the coast.
