6 Stunning Korean Libraries Worth Visiting for More Than Just Books — traveler post in Sejong

6 Stunning Korean Libraries Worth Visiting for More Than Just Books

For those who love a chill trip to Korea, if you ever need a break from shopping or rushing between landmarks, try adding a “library” to your itinerary. 📚💛 Many of these spots offer much more than just bookshelves and reading desks; the architecture, atmosphere, and unique concepts make them must-visit destinations. Some are conveniently located in the heart of Seoul, while others just outside the city offer a completely different vibe. 01 Starfield Library — COEX Mall This is likely the most recognizable one. The towering, majestic bookshelves are situated right in the center of COEX Mall. It's the perfect spot to snap photos, take a rest, or browse through books while staying close to the mall's amenities. Ideal for days when you want to avoid the midday sun. ☕📖 02 Cheongun Literature Library If you're looking for a peaceful, traditional Korean atmosphere, this is a personal favorite. Located in the Jongno district, this Hanok-style library is nestled among trees and mountains. It feels like a quiet sanctuary where you can escape the hustle and bustle of Seoul to read in peace. 🌿🏡 03 Uijeongbu Music Library A specialized library for music enthusiasts. 🎧 It houses books on music, LP records, and CDs, along with dedicated listening areas. The interior design is incredibly modern, making it a great choice for those seeking a location that breaks the mold of a traditional library. 04 Seoul Metropolitan Library Located right at Seoul Plaza in the heart of the city. The building’s classic exterior is an iconic landmark of the City Hall area. It’s a great place to stop by for a quick read before heading out to explore Deoksugung Palace or the surrounding neighborhoods. 🏙️ 05 National Library of Korea, Sejong The building itself is a total showstopper! 📖✨ This massive library in Sejong City features a striking modern curved design. The interior is bright and airy with plenty of natural light, and it’s located near a park and a lake. A must-visit for architecture lovers. 06 Forest of Wisdom — Paju Book City If you’re a fan of those floor-to-ceiling book walls that demand to be photographed, this place belongs on your list. 📚🤎 Located in Paju Book City, the atmosphere is quiet and cozy—perfect for reading, enjoying a coffee, and exploring the rest of the dedicated "book city." What I love most is how each of these six locations offers a completely different experience—ranging from a library in a mall and a traditional Hanok setting to a music-focused space and stunning architectural gems outside of Seoul. If you have a free day on your trip and want to travel at a slower pace, be sure to save one of these spots. 🫶 Opening hours and directions are included with each photo to help you choose the best fit for your plan.

Did you know Korea has trips like this? 8 hidden gems for your next itinerary.

If you feel like every trip to Korea ends up being the same old neighborhoods, cafes, and landmarks, it might be time to branch out a bit. 🇰🇷✨ There are actually so many other cities and activities worth exploring. While some spots aren't as world-famous as Seoul or Busan, they offer an incredible atmosphere and far more to do than you might expect. 🏘 Jeonju Hanok Village — Jeonju Hanok Village If you’re looking for that old-school Korean vibe, take a stroll through Jeonju. The Hanok houses, tiny shops, and narrow alleys are a photographer’s dream. It’s the perfect place to spend a slow, relaxing day. 🚃 Gangneung — Gangneung This coastal city is perfect for a quick getaway. Take a train or drive along the coast, enjoy the ocean views, and wander along the beaches. The vibe here is a complete world away from the hustle and bustle of Seoul. 🌊 🥐 Gunsan Iseongdang — Gunsan Iseongdang Bread lovers, this one's for you! Iseongdang is Gunsan’s famous bakery. Grab some treats and then explore the old town—it’s a perfect combo of snacking and sightseeing. 🍶 Pocheon Sansawon — Pocheon Sansawon Looking for something different than a typical cafe? I highly recommend Sansawon. The grounds are filled with traditional fermentation jars and dedicated to local Korean spirits. It’s unique, fascinating, and very photogenic. 📚 Sokcho Munudang Seorim — Sokcho Munudang Seorim A local bookstore in Sokcho that’s perfect for a slow travel day. Browse the books, take a break, and then head out to the beach or grab some delicious local food. The vibes are immaculate. 🌿 Suncheon Seonamsa — Suncheon Seonamsa If you need a break from the city, take a walk through this temple nestled in nature. It’s incredibly peaceful, surrounded by trees, mountains, and traditional Korean architecture—ideal for a day when you’re in no rush. 🏺 Icheon Yespark — Icheon Yespark Craft lovers will adore this spot. Icheon is famous for its ceramics, and Yespark is home to shops, kilns, and studios. You can browse the art and even try your hand at a pottery workshop. 🌙 Sejong National Arboretum — Sejong National Arboretum This massive botanical garden is stunning when it opens at night. ✨ The illuminations and the glass greenhouses create a completely different atmosphere compared to the daytime. It’s perfect for those seeking a quiet yet visually engaging trip. A midsummer night's Christmas at the arboretum🎄❤️ — traveler post in Sejong

A midsummer night's Christmas at the arboretum🎄❤️

#IndoorDate Spending a summer Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere is on my bucket list of about ten million items, and the Sejong National Arboretum has brought me a midsummer night's Christmas just for me! This exhibition at the Sejong National Arboretum, decorated in a tropical greenhouse to resemble a truly midsummer night's Christmas, features a resort Santa who's on vacation. Rather than the usual red and white fluffy Santa, Santa Claus in a resort outfit and surrounded by green palm trees, creating a truly unique Christmas experience. It's fun to wander around the tropical greenhouse, searching for Santa and discovering the arboretum's unique Christmas Easter eggs. It's also fun to visit the permanent exhibition hall and experience the Christmas displays with the Kakao Friends. The Tropical Greenhouse's Christmas exhibition is beautiful during the day, but from the 24th to the 26th, the arboretum will be open for free, and the garden will also be open at night for a limited time. Come enjoy a midsummer Christmas! 🎅🏻🌴 You all know that the Sejong National Arboretum is one of the 100 Best Tourist Attractions in Korea, right? 💚🍀 🎄Sejong National Arboretum (@koagi_platform) 📍136 Sejong Sumokwon-ro 🕰️9:00-17:00 (Closed Mondays) ✔️Free admission 12/24-12/31 ✨Open 12/24-12/26 (closes at 9:30 PM) 🚘Parking available

Sejong Arc Coffee, where fall and Christmas coexist🎄🌾 — traveler post in Sejong

Sejong Arc Coffee, where fall and Christmas coexist🎄🌾

#Christmas I went to see the Christmas tree, and it was a Sejong cafe called Arc Coffee that went well with the autumn sunlight. I thought the Arc Coffee tree would be pretty at night, but it was a tree that was so pretty even during the day with its colorful candy-like colors. The combination with the reeds that hadn't fallen yet was so pretty that I'd like to strongly recommend it to those of you who are wondering whether to visit during the day as a pretty tree to see during the day! Strawberry cake was a shame, but the croffle I ordered instead was so delicious, and the bang show that comes out only in the winter was so warm and delicious🍷♥️ 🎄Arc Coffee (@arccoffee__ ) 📍38-15 Wolhyeonwitgil, Janggun-myeon, Sejong Arc Coffee 🕰️11:00-21:00 🚘Parking space O 🐶Pets allowed #SejongTravel #SejongRestaurants #SejongCafe #ArcCoffee #SejongChristmas #CheongjuSuburbs #CheongjuSuburbsCafe #SejongCityCafe #PlacesToVisitInSejong #SejongDate

Half-and-half chicken, no, half-and-half cosmos flowers in full bloom in Sejong🌸🌼 — traveler post in Sejong

Half-and-half chicken, no, half-and-half cosmos flowers in full bloom in Sejong🌸🌼

#SeoulSuburbs I thought half-and-half was only available for chicken, but did you know that cosmos would bloom in such a colorful mix of pink and orange? 😳 I always go to see cosmos that are in full bloom in the same color, but seeing cosmos flowers in such a colorful mix really makes them prettier. The day I visited was during Golden Week, so there were quite a few people, but on weekdays, there are hardly any people, so I think you can take prettier pictures than I did. Even if you visit on the weekend, the cosmos field is so vast that you can take pictures without getting caught up in too many people! The path between the cosmos was well-made, so it was a great place to take pictures and enjoy the view. It was a great cosmos spot in Sejong City🌼🌸💖 How about going to Sejong, near Cheongju, to see the cosmos this weekend☺️ 🌸Soop Garden Neighborhood Park 📍Sejong Daepyeong-dong 580-3 🚘Parking space O 🐶Pets allowed #SejongTravel #SejongPlacesToVisit #SejongCosmos #Soop Garden Neighborhood Park

A great healing spot to visit with our child in Sejong City ❤️ — traveler post in Sejong

A great healing spot to visit with our child in Sejong City ❤️

#PlacesToGoWithKids A trendy and beautiful space with a private indoor pool. I've been secretly eyeing this lovely place because I really wanted to go there with my baby. But the owner kindly invited me, and I had a happy time there! Indoors, there is a spacious pool that even adults can enjoy, and a play area with arcade games that children love. There is also a nap area for our tired little ones. Outdoors, there are trampolines, a sandbox, a BBQ area, and a fire pit, which would be great to use during the evening. According to the reviews, this is a perfect place where you only need to bring your swimsuit and body, as everything else is provided. If you get hungry while playing, you can buy brunch at the coexisting cafe. It was really delicious! 😳 Thanks to the owner, our children had a fun winter vacation and left feeling full and happy. 💖 🌊Sagae Coexistence Space (@sagae_gj) 📍8-62 Bukguk-gil, Yeonseo-myeon, Sejong 🕰️9:30-14:30, 16:30-21:30 Available for one-time use or all-day use! 👼🏻Everything from tableware to body products, towels, and even shower gowns are provided! Just bring your swimsuit and body! #SejongCafe #SejongPartyRoom #SagaeCoexistenceSpace

I will come back in the spring when peach blossoms bloom, coexisting with the four seasons — traveler post in Sejong

I will come back in the spring when peach blossoms bloom, coexisting with the four seasons

#BeautifulCafe Last winter, I visited the Sejong City cafe, Sagye Gongjon, which was charming with its white trees that perfectly matched the cafe's atmosphere. The white tree that excited me around Christmas was still there, and the lovely owner greeted me with a smile. Everything was great, but what I liked the most was the thoughtful consideration for children in every corner of the cafe. The spacious seating tables for children, especially the round tables without sharp edges, seemed to ease parents' worries about their children getting hurt. There was also a large outdoor playground for children with sand, and even a tent to provide shade and shelter on cold days. Behind the cafe, there were many peach trees planted, and I couldn't wait for spring when the peach blossoms would bloom. I will definitely visit Sagye Gongjon again in the near future. Sagye Gongjon, as its name suggests, is a space that looks forward to all four seasons. ☕️Sagye Gongjon 📍8-63 Bugok-gil, Yeonseo-myeon, Sejong 🕰️10:30-19:00 🚘Parking available 👼🏻Yes, kids zone #SejongTravel #SejongCafe #SagyeGongjon

Sejong Hanok Cafe Heymul, perfect for quiet healing☕️ — traveler post in Sejong

Sejong Hanok Cafe Heymul, perfect for quiet healing☕️

It feels like a hanok but has sophistication, I guess that's how it's explained. It was more spacious than I thought because the space was well utilized. It's in a hanok village, but the surrounding area is all apartment complexes, which gave it a unique feel. It's a perfect place to quietly enjoy a cup of coffee, That's exactly the right answer. It's a place where you can take pretty pictures of the main gate and the entrance, so I highly recommend it on the day the weather fairy appears♥️ · · 📍Sejong Cafe Heymul 🧭Sejong Gounhanok 1-gil 3 ⏰️11:00-21:30 (20:00 last order) ✅️There's Mont Blanc, Dacquoise, and Pound Cake ✅️An elegant atmosphere in a hanok village and apartment complex #Hanok#Sejong Cafe#Sejong Travel#Hanok Cafe

#Cafe with a good view “Delverro!!” is a new cafe in Sejong City that is rapidly rising A Sejong cafe that makes you exclaim in admiration as soon as you enter, with a white-toned European-style exterior and a high-ceilinged interior :) The outdoor tables are pretty, so it’s great for drinking coffee while looking at flowersㅎㅎ ✔️Location: 1st floor, 35 Daegyojeolgol-gil, Janggun-myeon, Sejong ✔️Point: A small botanical garden atmosphere inside the cafe, a great restaurant with a garden view

🌿A cafe with a pretty garden🌿 — traveler post in Sejong

🌿A cafe with a pretty garden🌿

#Cafe with a good view A cafe with a pretty garden located in Sejong City, 🌿Delverro🌿 It's a cafe that I keep thinking about even after visiting because the garden view with nature as the background is beautiful:) The interior is also very pretty, but the outdoor space is actually well decorated, so if you visit, I definitely recommend using the outdoor space:) It's no secret that the actual cafe is prettier than the pictures~~👍

Sejong Lake Park

It is one of the largest artificial lakes and has a well-maintained walking path, so it takes about 50 minutes to walk around it. You can sit in the middle and enjoy a picnic, or you can rent a bicycle and ride around it. There is no admission fee, and the surrounding parking lot is well-maintained, so you can park and walk.

Bear Tree Park

I had something to do in Sejong, so I went on a date with my husband nearby. If you are nearby, it is a good place to take a walk and see animals and take a walk with your child. It seems like a good place to visit during the day.

Gongju Gongsanseong Fortress

Really beautiful spot for a walk around. The signs are all in English and informative and it's just a nice atmosphere. There's a lot of steps though so just be warned :)
