The Tateyama Kurobe Alps, one of Japan’s most spectacular mountain routes, from winter snow walls to summer dam beauty, whether you’re taking transportation all the way up the mountain or stepping on the land with your feet, there’s always a scene of breathtaking natural scenery. This time, I chose to leave directly from Nagano, early in the morning just in Ogizawa just saw the clouds and mist in the mountains, kind of the atmosphere to embark on an adventure. For fear of not being able to buy transportation tickets during the peak season, I have already booked an early bus through the official website. I suggest that if you plan to go from Toyama, you can consider taking a train at Toyama Station to start your Alpine shuttle.

📍Highlights of the trip:
· Cross the magnificent snow wall and feel the spectacular snow wall up to 13 meters high
· View the stunning view of Kurobe Dam blending with the intermountain lake
· Multi-segment transportation experience: tunnels, cable cars, and trams appear in turn, like a nature adventure
· The weather on the plateau changes rapidly, clouds, sunshine, rain and wind accompany you to switch outdoor physical sensations at any time

🗺️Tateyama Kurobe Alps Route Recommended Experience:
1. Depart from Ogizawa
Address: Sanbecho Shigaku, Oda, Shimane 694-0222 Japan
Open all day throughout the year
It is recommended to leave at 8-9 am. Remember to book tickets online in advance during peak season, otherwise you will have to wait for several flights in line at any time. Ogizawa is an important starting point on the Tateyama Kurobe route.

2. Tateyama Kurobe Alps Route
Address: Tateyama, Nakaniikawa District, Toyama 930-1406 Japan
Opening hours: year-round 09:00-12:00, 13:00-16:00 (open Saturdays and Sundays only)
Landmark snow wall, late spring to early summer at its peak can be seen as thick as 10 meters of snow, walking through feeling like a mini doll in a giant icicle tunnel, every time the festival bus passes, everyone will rush to take a contrast photo of the snow wall and the bus!

3. Kurobe Dam
Address: Ashikuraji, Tateyama, Nakaniikawa District, Toyama 930-1406 Japan
Opening hours: 07:30-17:00 year-round
Standing at the top of the dam and overlooking, the magnificent water surface shines among the mountains. During the summer, there are regular drainage fountains. Remember to check the time. The dam trail is well designed, there are many photo spots at the attraction, and there are small stalls nearby where you can buy hot drinks and snacks, which is suitable for a short break to replenish your strength.

⚠️ Travel Tips & Practical Insights:
· The weather varies greatly between the mountains and the mountains. It is recommended to prepare rain gear and multiple layers of warm clothing. This time I encountered a strong wind that couldn't be stopped even with open umbrellas. When I looked at the snow wall, I felt the sharp drop in temperature in the mountains.
· It is recommended to book tickets in advance on the official website, whether it is a bus, cable car or tram, to avoid the crowds, especially during peak season, holiday departures.
· Encounter cloudy and rainy days, although the scenery is more cloudy and hazy, but outdoors must pay attention to wet and slippery roads, alpine activities safety first!

🍜Tateyama Kurobe Food Recommendations:
Restaurants on the mountain mainly serve simple meals. Featured recommendations:
· Ramen shop near Tateyama Station: Using authentic plateau wild vegetables, the soup is particularly fresh and sweet
· Canteen next to Kurobe Dam: hot salt roasted corn, hot spring eggs, hot coffee are particularly warm in the cold wind

🚃Transportation Guide:
The Tateyama Kurobe Alps route requires several transfers throughout the entire journey, including buses, cable cars (Tunnel Trolley), tram (like bus tram), it is recommended to check the timetable and route map in advance.

Onsen Tsu Centenary Soup Experience + Ishimi Ginzan Bike Exploration + Netmei Bakery Lunch ☀️🚲🍞

At the beginning of our trip, let’s take a dip at the super popular Onsen Tsu Onsen in Ota City! This "Yushi Soup" is a century-old shop located at B208-1 Yunotsucho Yunotsu in Ota. It opens at 6pm and closes at 19:00 at night (only until 15:00 on Mondays). Natural hot soup, with Japanese ancient atmosphere, really relax to not want to leave ~ ♨️

Early the next morning, rent an electric bike and ride along the road into the cultural landscape of the ruins of Ishimi Ginzan (Address: Omoricho, Oda, Shimane 694-0305).
In fact, all the monuments and Japanese architecture from the Edo period are preserved here.
Opening hours 08:30-17:30. It’s not just as simple as seeing the old Silver Hill Tunnel.
Along the way, insurance to stay Showa-era architectural photo spots, suitable for hipsters and history lovers!

Stepping hungry, chill in the specialty bakery ~ sit indoors with wooden tables and chairs and large glass windows, choose a cup of coffee and serve with Hea burst dessert, outside the window is the modern outdoor humanistic scenery, the mood automatically divided ☕️🍰

This Ota City day trip is full of hot springs, monuments, and healing delicacies.
