Reflections on a Visit to Yaoyougou Living in the city for a long time, I'm often enveloped by noise and anxiety, yearning for the tranquility of mountains and rivers. Taking advantage of some free time, I visited Yaoyougou in Lanling, Linyi. This ancient village nestled in the Yimeng Mountains, with its verdant mountains and clear waters, the everyday life of its ancient village, and its rich cultural heritage, soothed my restless heart, leaving me with overflowing warmth and profound insights. The beauty of Yaoyougou begins with its pristine natural charm. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and water on one, the barren mountains boast a 95% green coverage rate, a tapestry of varying shades of green. Stepping into the scenic area, the city's hustle and bustle instantly disappears, leaving only the babbling brook, the crisp birdsong, and the rustling of leaves in the wind, weaving a natural symphony to heal the soul. The winding cobblestone path meanders through the valley, wildflowers bloom freely along the way, and the crystal-clear stream flows gently. Walking on the stones in the stream, the splashing water wetting my trousers, a long-lost sense of ease washes over me. As dusk falls, the setting sun bathes the valley in a warm golden glow, mingling the rising smoke with the twilight, making the distant mountains appear like dark eyebrows and the nearby waters shrouded in mist, resembling a flowing ink painting. The charm of Yaoyougou lies in the warmth and tranquility of its ancient village. A typical northern village, its old houses with stone walls and black tiles are built against the mountainside, arranged in a charming, staggered pattern, preserving the original rural landscape of southern Shandong. Stone-paved roads, old stone mills, peeling paint on wooden doors, corn and peppers hanging under the eaves, a yellow dog lounging in a corner of the yard, and elderly people sunbathing in front of their doors—every detail exudes a simple, rustic charm. In the Baigongfang (Hundred Crafts Workshop), the creaking of wooden presses from the ancient oil presses and wineries fills the air with the rich aroma of wine and oil. The scenes of intangible cultural heritage inheritors working by hand allow one to touch the weight of time. On Xinghua Street, the aroma of Yimeng pancakes, Lanling wine, and other local delicacies wafts through the air, and the enthusiastic vendors and authentic flavors allow one to experience the most genuine human warmth. The soul of Yaoyougou lies in the harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature. Here, you'll find not only pristine natural landscapes but also immersive cultural experiences. On the ancient stage, Liuqin Opera and acrobatics are performed in turn, full of charm; the large-scale live-action horse battle, "The Legend of Drunken Lanling," is magnificent, with galloping warhorses recreating the heroic spirit of the ancient battlefield. Over 400 NPCs in ancient costumes roam the streets and alleys, with vivid and lively characters such as shopkeepers, constables, and Sun Erniang, interacting and playing games with tourists, making you feel as if you've traveled back a thousand years and entered a traditional Chinese martial arts world. Every brick, tile, blade of grass, and tree here carries the essence of Yimeng culture, telling a story of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature. A day trip here passes in the blink of an eye, but the scenery and everyday life of Yaoyougou are deeply imprinted in your heart. It may not have the grandeur of famous mountains and rivers, but it heals the heart and cleanses the soul with its simple natural beauty and profound cultural charm. On the way back, I suddenly realized that the meaning of travel is never about escaping life, but about rediscovering our original aspirations amidst nature and feeling warmth in the everyday life. Yaoyougou taught me that life doesn't have to be rushed. Occasionally stopping to appreciate nature's gifts and experience human kindness is the only way to find inner peace and tranquility.

Where to go in Linyi on weekends? Recommended places - Dazongshan Langgong Temple Address: Dazongshan Langgong Temple Tourist Scenic Area, Chezhuang Village, Dazhongcun Town, Lanling County, Linyi City, Shandong Province Tickets: Free A very suitable place for weekend picnics. There are many pigeons to feed. It is recommended to park in the second and third parking lots. If you want to climb the mountain, you can go up the mountain from the small trail behind the small supermarket. It is faster. In addition, it is recommended not to wear shorts when climbing the mountain!!! Because there are many mosquitoes in the mountains. Go to the mountains on weekends to breathe fresh air and enjoy a moment of peace in life

Dazong Mountain in Dazhongcun Town, Lanling County, is open to the public for free. Surrounded by nine peaks and whispering pines, this temple—the premier monastery of Langya, first built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty—was once as renowned as Lingyin and Lingyan temples. Through centuries of shifting winds and clouds, the past grandeur has faded, leaving only the tranquility of the mountains and the ancient temple. Travel tips: Admission is free. A 2–3 hour visit is recommended. The hike is low-intensity and suitable for all ages. Spring and autumn are the best times for an outing. Be sure to try the authentic local "di guo ji" (pot chicken) at the farmhouses at the foot of the mountain. Take precautions against mosquitoes. The mountain is well-shaded, and wearing simple, elegant clothing will make your photos stand out.

To visit Yayougou while staying at Ronghua Hotel, you must drive yourself or hire a car. It takes about 1.5 hours from the city center. It is easy to get a taxi there, but hard to get one for the return trip. Yayougou admission is 55 yuan/person. We recommend setting aside 3–4 hours, focusing on the "Legend of Lanling" equestrian show and the ancient stone village houses. The benefit of staying at Ronghua is that you can have Linyi-style stir-fried chicken and meat soup for breakfast, so you can fuel up before you leave. 1. Accommodation: Linyi Zhongwei Ronghua Hotel Located at 121 Xinhua Road, Lanshan District, near the MixC mall by the train station. We chose it because we needed a good night's rest before heading to Yayougou, and the hotel conditions are worth the trip. A few practical points: The large courtyard parking lot has nearly 300 spaces and includes charging piles, so you do not have to worry about parking before you set off. Breakfast features nearly 100 dishes, including local Linyi specialties like stir-fried chicken and meat soup, so you can enjoy them without leaving the hotel. Eat your fill in the morning before the 1.5-hour drive, and you will not be hungry on the road. When you return to the hotel in the evening, there is free late-night porridge—choose from millet or oatmeal—which is very comforting after a long day out. If you do not want to drive, you can consider hiring a car, though the cost will be significantly higher than driving yourself. 2. How to explore Yayougou · Address: No. 101, Yayougou Village, Jinling Town, Lanling County · Admission: 55 yuan/person; 30 yuan for seniors and children. Online advance booking often offers discounts. · Opening hours: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM; last entry at 5:30 PM · Transportation: Driving yourself is highly recommended. It takes about 1–1.5 hours from the city center. Parking fee is 10 yuan/day. Take the sightseeing bus up the mountain → Watch the equestrian show → Walk down the mountain to explore the ancient village After entering the scenic area, take the sightseeing bus (approx. 30 yuan) directly to the top of the mountain to secure a seat for the "Legend of Lanling" live-action equestrian show. There are shows at 11:10 AM and 4:00 PM. Featuring real horses, live combat, and pyrotechnics, it is the most worthwhile attraction in Yayougou. After watching, slowly walk back down to save energy without missing the highlights. Stops along the way down: The ancient village and the Artisan Workshop are the essence of Yayougou. The northern stone houses are built into the mountainside. The freshly made pancakes at the pancake workshop are fragrant, and the vinegar and liquor workshops are also open; the local atmosphere is even more captivating than the performances. The Deer Farm is about 50 meters straight from the entrance. You can buy a bag of carrots for 10 yuan to feed the deer, which is great for those with kids or anyone looking to relax. The Magic Forest area is surrounded by greenery and often has water mist; if you get tired, it is a cool place to rest for a few minutes and take great photos. Practical tips: The scenic area is large and lacks shade, so wear sneakers and use sun protection. If you just want a relaxing stroll, walking to the ancient village and the Artisan Workshop is enough; there is no need to force yourself to walk the entire route. 3. Dining and return trip Prices at snack streets like Xinghua Street inside the scenic area are similar to those outside. You can try Linyi pancakes and Yimeng stir-fried chicken, so there is no need to carry too much food. However, for main meals, we recommend returning to the city center for more options. Note on the return trip: If you take a taxi there, you might not be able to get one for the return trip, so it is best to drive yourself or arrange for a hired driver to wait for you in advance. If you still have energy after returning to Ronghua Hotel, the MixC mall is within walking distance, making it convenient to stroll around or grab a proper dinner. Stay one night at Ronghua, wake up early for a bowl of meat soup, drive an hour to Yayougou, watch an equestrian show, walk around the stone houses, and return to the city before dark. It is hassle-free and plenty of fun.

A day of two views, where landscape meets cultural roots In autumn leisure, explore Lanling's mountains and waters, spending a day between two realms: first admire the rustic village life of Yayougou in the hills and fields, then visit Xunzi Cultural Park for a thousand years of scholarly tradition. The landscape soothes the heart, cultural roots nourish the spirit, and you will gain abundant healing and insight. On first entering Yayougou, green hills embrace you and clear streams babble. Stone houses and ancient alleys built along the slopes stretch in irregular rows, bluestone paths wind deep and quiet, smoke rises from old workshops, and traditional folk customs greet you. A live horseback battle unfolds with overwhelming momentum, while the rural scenery is fresh and peaceful; every step reveals the simple charm of a southern Shandong village, inviting you to lose yourself in the tranquil blend of landscape and village life. After bidding farewell to the rural village, drive to Xunzi Cultural Park, where the scene immediately shifts from everyday village life to refined scholarly ambience. The park is tranquil and solemn, with neatly arranged, elegant ancient buildings, serene pavilions and ponds, and lush, quiet woods. A statue of Xunzi stands quietly, his gaze gentle and far-reaching, and the stone gallery bears engravings of timeless classics. Reading memorable lines from "Encouraging Learning" and studying the ancients' age-old deeds of governing Lanling, promoting education, and enriching the region, each phrase enlightens the mind and permeates the cultural thread. One journey, two states of mind. In the morning linger among rural life and the many facets of humanity, and in the afternoon reflect quietly on sage wisdom and the timeless smell of books. From a village of everyday life to a sanctuary of cultural lineage, you both admire the beauty of Lanling's landscape and savor a thousand years of Confucian charm. Make the most of autumn days as you walk among the hills and waters, experience the continuity of cultural heritage, and on a journey balanced between movement and stillness, set aside daily worries and carry home a long, poetic Lanling autumn memory.
Yayougou is a treasure! The stone roads and old houses in the ancient village are very old, and you can also watch traditional craft performances. The B&B is comfortable and very quiet at night. There are so many snacks in Xinghua Street in the scenic area that you can't choose, and the aroma of the earthen pot chicken is overwhelming. The mountains and rivers are beautiful and the air is good. It is suitable for taking the elderly and children to stroll. I feel relaxed physically and mentally. I will come again next time!
小小导游爱旅游I brought my family here during the May Day holiday. The animals were all very gentle and friendly. The park's layout was very well designed and highly interactive. My children and family had a great time.
就不要告诉你During the National Day holiday, I accompanied my parents to visit. The park is quite large, but there are not many tourists. Adult tickets are 60 yuan and half-price tickets are 30 yuan. The ticket price is a bit expensive in the off-season. There are only a few permanent indoor exhibition halls to visit. Other outdoor parks are relatively bleak. The overall cost-effectiveness is not high. Locals can walk around the park for free. It is not recommended to come in autumn and winter. It may be more lively in spring and summer.
_We***14The hotel staff were all very friendly and the environment was fantastic. We could easily visit the old town countless times a day, making it especially suitable for families with children and elderly members. The value for money was excellent, especially the receptionists – a huge thumbs up! 👍 The shows in the old town were wonderful, especially the water show – don't miss it! I personally think it's even better than the National Show!
M50***41The former residence of Wang Xizhi, the Sage of Calligraphy, is located in the urban area of Linyi City. The park has a particularly beautiful and comfortable environment, especially the bamboo shoots after the rain. The tender bamboo shoots are sprouting from the ground, and I have never seen such tender bamboo shoots before. They are everywhere.
Anonymous userMy stay at Hengli Hotel during my trip to Taierzhuang was generally positive. The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the South Gate of the ancient city, making it incredibly convenient for exploring. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. During my stay, we unfortunately encountered some small flying insects in the room. The butler, Xiao Hu, sincerely apologized and thoughtfully prepared a small gift to express his apology. His proactive and sincere approach to resolving the issue was very touching. Xiao Hu provided attentive and considerate service throughout the stay. He planned our itinerary in advance, patiently explained the iron flower performance and photo spots, and responded quickly to any questions. His enthusiasm was measured and he never overly bothered us. The hotel environment and facilities were excellent, and his approach to problems was commendable – he didn't shirk responsibility. This small incident highlighted the hotel's genuine service attitude. I highly recommend this hotel when visiting Taierzhuang, and I will definitely choose Hengli Hotel again next time. Thank you again to butler Xiao Hu.
M13***43Hiking Mount Tai at night, haha, it's definitely worth bringing kids and family for a unique outdoor experience. The kids were great! With so many people, it was less tiring. We climbed a bit, rested a few steps, and finished in three hours. Our legs weren't sore at all when we came down. I really want to climb it again!
Anonymous userVery good. For me, it’s worth exploring this museum. The beer (included in the entrance ticket) is good as well.
Quoc Luong TranThe scenic area is truly vast, with attractions quite far apart. It gets incredibly crowded during holidays, with long queues for sightseeing buses and cable cars. Make sure to allow ample time for your return trip during holidays. We took the coastal route, with mountains on one side and the sea on the other. The rocky coastline scenery was exceptionally beautiful. I recommend taking two days outside of holidays to leisurely explore Laoshan's stunning mountain and sea views and experience the local culture, without rushing around.
M41***50Finally, I saw Baotu Spring, which I'd read about in textbooks! The garden isn't large, but the ancient pavilions and weeping willows beside the clear spring are very pleasant. Seeing the three springs bubbling upwards with my own eyes was much more vivid than in the photos; the water was crystal clear, and koi carp swam leisurely. There's also a memorial hall for Li Qingzhao inside, and the atmosphere was quite nice as I strolled around. The main spring area was a bit crowded, so finding a quiet spot for photos was a challenge. An hour or so is enough to leisurely explore; it's definitely worth a visit when in Jinan.
