🍊 Australia's Giant Citrus Sculptures — Griffith's Hidden Gem!
🍊 Did you know an Australian town turns over 100,000 oranges and grapefruit into giant sculptures every October?! Welcome to Griffith, NSW - my hometown, located in the beautiful Riverina region of Australia! 🇦🇺 Every spring, Banna Avenue transforms into an incredible outdoor gallery featuring more than 60 citrus sculptures, from animals and vehicles to famous landmarks. 🍊 WHY GRIFFITH? Griffith is part of Australia’s largest citrus-growing region, making this a wonderful celebration of our local agriculture and community. 🇫🇷 THE FRENCH CONNECTION The inspiration came from Menton, France, where the famous Lemon Festival (Fête du Citron) officially began in 1934. Griffith introduced its own citrus sculptures in 1995, and the tradition has continued to grow ever since. Today, over 800 volunteers help create the displays, attaching locally grown oranges and grapefruit to metal frames using thousands of rubber bands!
