The museum is a rectangular two-story Western-style building, the main building is 23.1 meters long, 18.5 meters wide, and has a construction area of 855 square meters. Sitting north to south, the corridor is 2 to 5 meters wide, the main entrance has a porch, and there are 10-meter-long curved steps on both sides of the porch. The roof is sloping on all sides, and the ridge is 2 meters high. Germany established a consulate in Beihai in 1886 and withdrew it in 1908, which lasted 23 years. The office building of the German consulate was built in 1905. Before the consulate was built, the German consulate was entrusted to the British consulate as an agent. In 1902, the German consulate was stationed in Beihai and temporarily used the office of the tax company. After the office building was completed in 1905, it moved into the new building and acted as an agent for Haikou consular affairs in Hainan. In 1908, the German consulate was withdrawn, and the house was sold to others. It is now used as an office building by Beihai Industrial and Commercial Bank. It was announced as a cultural relics protection unit in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 1994. On June 25, 2001, the State Council announced it as a national key cultural relics protection unit, which is an important material evidence for the German consulate in Beihai.
