    Chashi site in Maka Park

    Original Text

There was a large park called Maka Park on the hill on the south side of Shizunai, in the center of Shinhidaka Town. In the back of the park, I found a sign that says "Sibe Charichashi Ruins". Chashi is an Ainu facility that is often built in high places. Since it is the "ruins", I could only understand the uneven terrain.

It's where the hero Shakshine was based.

    Original Text

Maka Park is located south of the central city of Shinhidaka Town. There was a Sibe Charichashi ruins around the tip of the back of the large park dotted with Ainu-related facilities. This chashi was the base of Shakushine, the leader of the Ainu around here. There was an observatory nearby, overlooking the Shizunai River and the town of Shizunai that spreads over there.

The battle of Ainu and Matsumae domain

    Original Text

This place was the base of the Ainu side of the Battle of Shakushine, which is said to be the largest battle of Ainu. Since it was burnt down after the war, only earthworks and empty moats remain in this area. If you visit after studying at the Ainu Memorial Hall, you can feel the remains of Shibe Charichashi.
