Helong Bridge

Helong Bridge is located in front of He Long's former residence in Hongjiaguan Village, Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie City. It was formerly known as Wind and Rain Bridge and Yong'an Bridge. It was advocated by He Tingzai, He Long's great-grandfather. This is a wind and rain bridge composed of stone piers, wooden beams, and arcades. It has typical characteristics of western Hunan. After the reconstruction was completed in 1952, it was renamed "Helong Bridge". He Long's great-grandfather, He Tingzai, was enthusiastic about public welfare and advocated the construction of this bridge for the convenience of pedestrians. However, due to the limited personal funds, "to pay for the burden". Later, He Long's grandfather continued to build it, and it finally succeeded in 1915. In the spring of 1916, after He Long slashed the Ba Maoxi Salt Taxation Bureau, Sang Zhi was established at this bridge to fight against Yuan Minjun, and He Long was pushed as the commander-in-chief. The bridge has experienced wind and rain. In 1929, the bridge was demolished by Chen Cexun of the reactionary regiment. In the autumn of 1937, the local people raised funds to rebuild it. It was washed away by floods in 1940 and rebuilt in 1950. The Helong Bridge we see now is the bridge built in 1950 and completed in 1952, which is exactly the same as that year. This bridge, together with the former residence of He Long, constitutes a beautiful scenery.
