Catedral Church of St. Joseph

St. Joseph Parish, Pontianak Cathedral, is a parish of the Roman Catholic Church in the center of the Archdiocese of Pontianak. The Pontianak Cathedral Parish Center is located in Darat Sekip Village - Pontianak City District, in Pontianak City - West Kalimantan. This parish central church building, St Joseph's Church, is a cathedral church -- the seat of the bishop of the Archdiocese of Pontianak; inaugurated on December 19, 2014 by the Governor of West Kalimantan Drs. Cornelis MH, and his blessing on March 19, 2015 -- to coincide with the Feast of St. Joseph according to the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar.[4] Pontianak Cathedral Parish, since its inception, has been pastored by priests from the Capuchin Order (OFMCap). bysawi

Gereja Katedral Santo Yosef Pontianak yang pada mulanya berstatus stasi kemudian berganti menjadi gereja induk misi di Kalimantan Barat dikarenakan letaknya yang strategis. Setelah Prefek Pastor Pacificus secara resmi tinggal di Pontianak, Paroki Katedral Santo Yosef berperan sentral untuk karya misi yang mencakup seluruh Kalimantan. Sebagai gereja paroki, kegiatan pembinaan umat dan pelayanan sakramental menjadi karya utama. Selain melaksanakan karya pastoral, gereja juga terlibat dalam karya amal dan sosial seperti mendirikan sekolah, asrama, dan rumah sakit.
