The harvest had already started in late August. Be careful as the road is narrow. My car doesn't have a car navigation system, so I was worried if this road was really okay. When I looked up to go out to the vicinity during Silver Week, I found out that there are terraced rice fields. Rice harvesting is slow in Okayama Prefecture, so I thought it would be in full bloom ... It seems that this was early and was in the middle of harvest. It's a pity after about half of it has been mowed. If you want to see the rice terraces, I think it's better until the first half of September.
As the title suggests, it is the largest rice terraces in Japan. The reason why it is not sold as a tourist destination is probably because there are no places to enjoy the view and parking lots. I think it's really regrettable. It is the original scenery of Japan in Kumenan Town along with the excellent terraced rice fields. You can also see Kaminobuchi Pond, one of the 100 best irrigation ponds.
