Sat at one of the terrace restaurants in Halle's lively and friendly Marktplatz, joining GFH in admiring the sight of the locals doing their market shopping, he from his pedestal, me at my breakfast.

I even sang an extract from the Messiah beside this statue in the crowded Christmas market- and no-one batted an eyelid!

Lovely town square

Lots of restaurants and shopping. A lovely walk from many hotels. The statue is not a real draw. Lots of churches and old buildings.

It’s a monument in the middle of the square. The square itself is interesting and close to a lot of local food and drink areas.
