Xiashui Giant Buddha

Most of the big Buddhas in the history of Chinese civilization are for the town. It is said that the rivers in ancient times are endless, often causing water problems. In order to live and work in the local area, the two big monks borrowed money and carved this huge Buddha statue with the help of a local human-shaped boulder. Its height even surpasses the famous Leshan Buddha, the world's first natural Buddha statue. Unfortunately, the road is difficult to walk.

The "Water Buddha" is located in Baiyundula, in the Foshan mouth at the southern end of the road Suidong, there is a huge egg-like rock standing on the foothills, with a head of 16 meters high, 4 meters higher than the Leshan Buddha in Sichuan. Legend has it that this Buddha is called "copper oil pot" ("touring Buddha") surrounded by four Buyi villages, with a strong ethnic customs. The north side is higher, located in the upper reaches of the Shanoo River, along the river banks there are mountains and fields, rich vegetation, high coverage. Guiyang City plans to build a "pricot garden" in the area including the big Buddha in the water, as one of the six theme parks in Guiyang to build a forest city. From the perspective of the distribution of tourist attractions in Guiyang City, the biggest feature of the big Buddha in the water is the "Buddhism". Taking the Buddha as the center, with the ecological environment, mountain-shaped landforms and Buyi ethnic villages as the background, it has a unique humane ecosystem: "Buddha integrates into the natural environment, natural ecology is highlighted, and folk culture integrates into the landscape and Buddha land".

The Buddha has disappeared; for some reaso the rock carvings are gone, and there is nothing left to see.
