Highlights: The ancient city of Pergai is located about 18 kilometers northeast of Antalya City. It was built in the 10th century BC and is a relatively well-preserved ancient city in Antalya Province. In the 2nd century BC, because this place was inland, protected from pirates, and irrigated by the Ax River, which led directly to the Mediterranean Sea, it flourished for a time and was an important city in Pamphylia (today's Mediterranean region) in Asia Minor. In 1946, the ancient city of Perge was discovered and archaeological excavations began. The Axe River used to be an important trade channel in Pergai, and its watershed is also a tourist hotspot with many historical sites. Pergay is hot and humid all year round, especially in summer. Tourists stroll through the monuments and often see lizards in the grass. It is a veritable outdoor adventure destination.
