Things to do in Xiao County

I went out for a walk on the weekend, took a sightseeing bus to the halfway point, and hiked the rest of the way. It was winter, so the vegetation was bare and the scenery wasn't great, but hiking is still excellent exercise. There's a toboggan run that was very popular; those who don't want to hike down can give it a try.

Yunlong Lake boasts a vast expanse of clear, clean water, nestled against the lush Yunlong Mountain, creating a picturesque and soothing landscape. A leisurely stroll along the lakeside path, with a gentle breeze rippleing across the surface, is incredibly pleasant. The popular submerged walkway is a must-see, offering close-up views of the fish, shrimp, and aquatic plants, making you feel as if you're walking in the middle of the lake – a truly immersive experience. The scenic area is rich in attractions, including the elegant Xiaonan Lake, the rustic Sugong Pagoda, the beautifully designed Fanyue Bridge, the Xuzhou Concert Hall, and the popular "Ten Thousand People Beach." Every step reveals a new vista, making every snapshot a potential photo opportunity. During the day, enjoy the stunning lake and mountain views; in the evening, watch the sunset; and at night, the lights reflecting on the lake create a gentle and tranquil atmosphere.

The cliff tomb where Liu Zhu, King Xiang of Chu during the Western Han Dynasty, and his wife were buried together in separate chambers is known as the "Oriental Pyramid." The entire mountain was hollowed out to build an underground palace. The project was massive, ingeniously designed, and meticulously constructed, earning it the reputation of "a wonder of the ages and a marvel of China."

I happened to be there during the chrysanthemum exhibition, and the all-inclusive ticket was quite cheap. The scenery inside was nice, and Bird Island was also quite interesting, with shows and various activities. You can easily spend a morning exploring at your own pace.

There are several types of roller coasters; the most thrilling ones are too dangerous for young children, but the Gold Rush roller coaster is okay. We didn't see any NPC interaction shows when we first entered the park in the morning, probably because it wasn't time yet. The NPC interactions increased in the afternoon when it got more crowded. The Flying Theater seemed too far out of the way; we didn't go there. The parade was very good and quite enthusiastic.

Xuzhou Paradise is worth visiting. The atmosphere is very exciting, the male NPC is very handsome, and there are many exciting game projects. Because it is a holiday, there are many people queuing, so I just played three projects: carousel, grassland hurricane, and flight simulator. I also encountered a float parade. The staff who passed by greeted us enthusiastically and were very friendly. If there is a chance, I will come again next time.

Yunlong Mountain is free to enter. It's not very high, making for an easy and relaxing climb. The mountain is lush with trees and hides historical sites such as Fanghe Pavilion and Xinghua Temple, each bearing witness to stories left by Su Dongpo. From the viewing platform at the top, you can enjoy panoramic views of Yunlong Lake and the entire city of Xuzhou. The maglev slide is a unique feature; this small mountain in the heart of the city combines natural scenery with historical charm, making it a very pleasant place for a leisurely stroll.

Yunlong Mountain is more worthwhile to visit than Yunlong Lake. Highly recommended. I originally just planned to stop by Xuzhou, but Yunlong Mountain turned out to be the most delightful surprise of the trip. For a free scenic area, the quality was truly beyond my expectations. Entering from the North Gate, it's not far to Liu Bei Spring. It's not a large place, but the atmosphere is exceptionally beautiful. A pool of clear water is nestled under ancient trees, next to a statue of Liu Bei, with inscriptions carved on the mountainside. It's peaceful and serene, a completely different world from the crowds at popular tourist spots. Standing there for a while, remembering its connection to the Three Kingdoms period and being a relic left by Liu Bei in Xuzhou, I suddenly felt a sense of weight to the water. The surrounding trees are shady; it must be very cool in summer, and comfortable to sit and daydream in spring or autumn. Continuing uphill for about ten minutes, you'll reach Fanghe Pavilion, my favorite spot on the entire mountain. I had read Su Shi's "Record of Fanghe Pavilion" before, and I never imagined I would actually stand before it one day. The pavilion, perched on a mountain ridge, offers a particularly expansive view, with Yunlong Lake in the distance and lush trees covering the mountains nearby. Resting in the pavilion, I thought of the reclusive life of releasing cranes described in literature, and suddenly felt a pang of envy for the ancients. The pavilion itself is in the style of traditional architecture and is well-maintained; many tourists stop here to take photos. The two attractions were visited in less than an hour, not tiring at all, making it perfect for families with elderly members and children. The mountain path is smooth, and the signs are clear, so there's no need to worry about getting lost. The only minor drawback is the lack of shade near the Crane-Releasing Pavilion; it can get quite sunny at midday. I recommend visiting in the morning or evening. Also, there aren't many stalls selling water on the mountain, so it's best to bring your own bottle. Overall, Yunlong Mountain is a very worthwhile place to visit. It has history, scenery, and is free! Locals are quite fortunate to have such a place in Xuzhou city. I'll definitely visit it again next time I'm in Xuzhou.

The scenic area is large; it's free to explore the outside, but you need to buy tickets to enter. Buying tickets in advance offers discounts. The Chu King's Mausoleum is definitely worth seeing. The Han Dynasty terracotta warriors are smaller in scale compared to the Qin Dynasty, but the underwater terracotta warriors are a unique feature. Walking around to see them all can be a bit tiring, so you can take a sightseeing bus for 20 yuan, which allows you to cycle through the area.
