So much fun. We enjoyed the experience very much. Learnt a lot about the area and the actual railway system. The staff were fantastic.

The whole experience. The fabulous Guides and the information provided, the actual ride along the historic railway track, the service, coffee, tea, lunch, snacks, blankets etc. but especially the beautiful high country scenery of remote King Country, NZ

It was cool, but if you simply park your car at the end point and take a taxi to the start you can save a lot of money.
Reviews: Tongariro Alpine Crossing: Hike Trail Roundtrip Shuttle

The bus isn't exactly luxurious, but given the route it takes, that's certainly understandable. Having a bus at both the start and finish is very convenient. The driver from the morning will tell you the return times in the afternoon. There might be a bit of a wait, but it's a chance to catch your breath and chat with other hikers.

The organization was perfect; the directions were clear on where to catch the bus. However, it's really expensive, and you have no choice but to take the shuttle because there's no parking available.
