Reviews: Lyon City Card: Public Transport & More Than 40 Attractions
Guest User2026-01-30
If its your first time in old Lyon I would not spend money on this. There is so much to see and do without going in any museums. We visited two churches, wandered inside a hospice, strolled through gardens and lingered in squares. We also ate lunch. We did loads of walking so didnt use any public transport, except forthe funicular. There was a big wheel in Bellecour which we were able to use our card-thus saving 9 euros. We also had a wonderful view over Lyon next to Fourvier church and nearby over the Roman theatres. My advice is to buy the card the second time you visit (when you have got your bearings) and plan your museum visits. If its raining it would be very useful to use public transport too. Lady in the Tourist Info on Bellecour was very helpful and provided us with maps.

Aidan was very friendly and knowledgeable about Lyon. He also spoke great English. We loved some of the extra things we saw like the Roman amphitheater and secret passageways.
Reviews: Discover Lyon in an Unusual Way

An ideal experience for discovering Lyon's most authentic spots, in an eco-friendly and personalized way. A major plus: the guide picked us up right from our accommodation. A huge thank you to Marc for his knowledge and the quality of his commentary.
Reviews: Vieux Lyon Cultural & Historical Walking Guided Tour (English)

This walk is an absolute must for first time visitors to Lyon. In fact we joined one walk on Tuesday & then a different one on Thursday. Paul is from the Netherlands & has lived in Lyon for 12 years. He is passionate about the town & its history & at the end of our 2 hours we felt much more connected to its stories, especially those of the Resistance fighters, about whom we knew nothing. Paul is also very generous with advice about restaurants & things to do. We thought both his tours were great.

The card gave us access to many different venues, our favorite being the Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière. The pass included all city transportation and funicular to the Basilica. The boat river cruise was also wonderful. Lots of museums visited and helpful staff at the tourism office.
Reviews: 3h - Electric Bike Tour of Lyon with a Local Guide

The guide was very delightful and knowledgeable. ..And we asked many questions. The tour went to places we would have never found otherwise. We stopped for wine, cheese, and tapenade, which was really perhaps the best culinary experience we had in Lyon. The guide also was looking out for our safety as we moved around town. Recommended!
