Reviews: Full Day Tour From Lima: Paracas and Huacachina Oasis
Guest User2026-01-12
I highly recommend it! It was great to get out of Lima and experience a variety of things :) The bus seats were comfortable, and they gave us plenty of time to rest, and we even got to ride a boat and a four-wheeler, which was fun!
Reviews: Paracas and Huacachina Sunset Picnic Tour

Do yourself a favor and sign up for this day trip out of Lima! This was one of the first things we did upon landing in Peru and my boyfriend and I, a couple in our early 40's, agreed that if our trip had ended right then and there we would have been happy. As it was we continued on for over two weeks with an Amazon River cruise, a hike to Rainbow Mountain and a 5 day trek to Machu Picchu, and at the end we still both decided that this excursion was the coolest part of our entire vacation. Yes, it is an early pickup, but the bus was comfortable, and the way they break up the trip down to Huacachina really made the early wake up easier to bear. The Paracas speedboat tour was a lot of fun. The only downside to this stop is that the coffee was horrible at the cafe where they stop for breakfast. As far as the tour its-self we saw all of the animals we expected, sea lions, penguins, and blue-footed boobies among other sea birds, and the rock formations were beautiful. The next stop at the winery was nice and the included lunch was delicious. Then on to the oasis! Huacachina was a beautiful gem in a desert the vastness of which I had no idea existed in South America. The dune buggy ride was exciting, like the wildest roller coaster I've ever been on, and with 3 roughly 10-15 minute rides throughout the experience it was well worth every dollar spent on the trip. The sand boarding, even though we were only laying on our bellies, was exhilarating, and we got to do 2 runs before jumping back in the buggy to chase the sunset - talk about incredible! The ride back was long, but we were exhausted and selpt for most of it, and they dropped us off when they said they would. A final note is for our guide, Aaron. He really did a stellar job of taking care of the entire crew which wasn't terribly large, but included children, a couple elderly guests and a mix of singles and small groups or couples. Also we spoke different languages and he easily switched from English to Spanish narration throughout, which I give him all the credit in the world for. This isn't the cheapest tour you will find to this incredible destination, but I will say they really made this long day the absolute best it could be!
Reviews: Paracas: Ballestas Islands and Candelabra of Paracas Boat
Guest User2025-09-15
The tour to the Ballestas Islands was one of the best experiences of my trip to Peru. The boat ride was very pleasant and well-organized, with all safety measures in place, and a guide who made the tour very interesting. We were able to see a wealth of wildlife in its natural habitat: sea lions resting on the rocks, clumsy but adorable penguins, and thousands of birds flying over the islands. The rock formations are unique, and seeing the famous Candelabra from the sea was a very interesting plus. Ideal for nature lovers, photography enthusiasts, or simply those looking for a different and enriching activity. Highly recommended if you're in Paracas or nearby.

Liked it very much apart from the driver who drove the car carelessly
Reviews: From Lima: Day Trip to Paracas and the Huacachina Oasis

There were no issues with the tour itself, but the morning meeting was a challenge. First of all, there was no communication the day before about where we would be picked up. The originally scheduled meeting place and time was nearly 30 minutes away from the hotel, which meant we had to wait for over an hour. While waiting was understandable, the lack of communication during that time made me anxious. Once the tour actually began, the guide, for better or worse, performed the bare minimum of his duties without interfering. He took us on a boat ride and to the beach in Paracas, and then to the Huacachina desert. I expected there to be more wildlife in Paracas, but I was disappointed. The boat ride was pleasant, but if we had only planned to visit Paracas, I wouldn't have signed up for the tour. Lunch at a restaurant in the afternoon was indeed tourist-priced, but not bad. There was a mysterious 10% charge at the checkout (the waiter said it was tax and a credit card fee), but the food was average and the portions were very generous. What impressed me most was the afternoon at the Huacachina Oasis. There was a lot of trash in the desert, but the sunset was truly beautiful. Playing in the desert on a sand buggy and sandboard was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Afterwards, the guide and the desert tour company arranged for a taxi back to the hotel, but they got the name of the hotel wrong and took me to a completely unfamiliar place. I was very confused, but I contacted the guide, negotiated with the taxi driver, paid the fare, and although it took a while, I arrived at the hotel safely. There were many things that didn't go smoothly, but as long as you make sure your guide follows up properly, I think it will be a fun trip. If you're staying in Ica, I recommend it as it allows you to enjoy both the sea and the desert in one day.
