Reviews: Hokkaido Nature Tour: Zoo, Flower Fields & Blue Pond

Our tour guide Arafat (J93) did a great job explaining about the itinerary and Hokkaido in general. If you are traveling with kids, the time alloted for the zoo is not enough. Too bad the penguin walk season has not started. Blue pond became solid white because of the snow. Falls was breathtaking. Nigle terrace was just too crowded.
Reviews: Hokkaido Furano Day Tour | Farm Tomita & Shikisai Hill

Our tour guide, Oscar, was both informative and bubbly. Although English isn’t his first language, he made a genuine effort to communicate with our non-Chinese-speaking guests, which we truly appreciated. Throughout the trip, he shared local stories, food recommendations, and souvenir tips that made the journey more engaging and enjoyable. While the flower fields looked lovely from a distance, they weren’t in full bloom yet—up close, they appeared rather bare. On a side note, for a nearly 10-hour day trip, over 6 hours were spent on the road. This made the actual sightseeing feel quite limited, and we felt the overall experience didn’t fully justify the price paid. If driving is an option, we would recommend self-driving instead, as it allows for more flexibility and time at each stop. Also, don’t miss the all the ice cream!

Unfortunately, the weather was uncooperative. It started raining as soon as I left the house, and it rained heavily the whole way. Especially when we reached Shikisai-oka, the rain turned into a downpour, mixed with freezing rain. The wind was also incredibly strong; it bent my umbrella, and I almost lost my balance walking. I was getting soaked, but thankfully I had brought rain pants and rain boots. The overall itinerary was generally reasonable, except for one place where, although they offered free ice cream, I still encourage everyone to look at the local products; there were some unexplained sales pitches.
Reviews: one-day tour of Four Seasons Color Hill and Tomita Farm in Hokkaido, Japan [Flower Wonderland in the Fairy Tale World]
Guest User2025-10-06
This trip was primarily focused on flower viewing, which flower lovers will find quite enjoyable. However, most of the time was spent traveling, as several scenic spots are quite far from Sapporo. Public transportation is inconvenient and the transportation costs are substantial. It was a bit of a shame that we didn't get to visit Farm Tomita, as lavender blooms were already out of season. If flowers aren't your thing, you can still see alpacas and try cantaloupe, a local specialty.
