Reviews: Eihō-ji Temple, Ena Gorge, Magome, Tsumago-juku day tour

There were four attractions in total. Eihoji Temple already showed some autumn colors in mid-October, and I'm sure in another month it'll be dominated by ginkgo trees and red maples. Ena Gorge wasn't anything special; I went there simply because I wanted to pass by. Magome-juku is so newly renovated, it looks like a sloped version of Panlong Tiandi. There are so many shops, and navigating the slopes on a rainy day was a bit scary. When we arrived at Tsumago-juku, it rained heavily, which only added to the charm of the quaint Tsumago-juku. Our group of about a dozen people was arranged by minibus, and everyone was very punctual, both for the morning check-in and the gathering at each attraction! The tourists were mostly from Southeast Asia, Europe, America, and Taiwan, and the guide spoke Chinese and English throughout the trip. 👍🏼

I was the only primarily English speaking person on the tour, and the guide was exceptional in switching between both languages so that everyone on the tour got the most out of it - very knowledgeable and kind :) Plenty of history was shared, and many beautiful sites were visited. Very well organised times to return to the bus to ensure we could see everything. The guide continued to give us recommendations of food and photo opportunities at each site. The transportation was excellent also - thank you bus driver :) Would highly recommend this tour!

The day trip is compact and the group friends are very punctual. The four attractions of the itinerary are very exciting! Guide Guo is very dedicated and also introduced the local specialties... The driver is also very dedicated, every time we tourists get on and off the bus, we have to say hello to us. Thank you, Mr. Guo, thank you, Mr. Driver. Overall awesome, great experience, good service, high cost performance

The overall itinerary was somewhat rushed due to Japanese driver service time regulations. The Takayama leg of the trip was particularly tight, mainly because completing a meal and a full visit to the Takayama Jinya (traditional Japanese houses) within two hours was quite strenuous. Two hours was more than enough for the Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri village. The tour guide was very professional and nice, and his explanations were quite interesting. The group members came from all over the world, with mainland Chinese tourists making up about 10%, making it a very international team.

"Taking a day tour to Shirakawa-go was easily the highlight of our trip. We went in February, and the village looked like a literal snow globe. The gassho-zukuri farmhouses are even more impressive in person. Our tour guide is very kind and approachable and also shared stories. Pro tip: Don’t skip the view from the top is the 'postcard' shot everyone wants.💕

Originally, we were supposed to join a small group tour, but it was changed to a large tour bus tour because the group didn't make it. Our tour guide, Ms. Liu, was very considerate. From before departure to the return trip, she explained a lot of information to us. She was dedicated and responsible, which deserves praise. Because some members of the group were late, even though the tour guide had explained in advance that the tour bus would only wait for an extra 5 minutes, she still waited for the late members. She was very responsible. Of course, she was at ease with the members who were not on time, but she didn't understand why the whole bus was waiting for the latecomers. That's why we never like to join large group tours.
