Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden Review

great place to enjoy an afternoon! visited with friends, and had a good time.

Beautiful and peaceful national garden, with history of 400 years. A nice garden in the center of Tokyo. I visited there on April2024, it’s a wonderful place to enjoy sakura. There also a big greenhouse, museum and Starbucks inside.

When I went there, I was catching up with the cherry blossoms. I saw so many cherry blossoms. The flower variety of Yuyuan is the most abundant and the color is good. On Sunday, many people come to enjoy the cherry blossoms. Sitting around the cherry blossom tree is also a scenery. The Yuyuan is very large, but clean. It feels good to walk down.

Walkable distance from Shinjuku-sanchome Station (4minutes walk). There was a queue to buy tickets from the machine and we belatedly realised that we could actually used our pasmo card to tap in the gantry. You just had to make sure that there is sufficient balance (¥500) in your pasmo card. The garden is huge and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. There are different types of cherry blossom trees in the garden so be sure to catch them if you are in Japan during spring.

Very pretty and popular garden in Shinjuku. It is easily accessible from train station. We were slightly early for autumn but there were some trees which have already changed colours!
