The Royal Mile is Edinburgh’s history captured in a street. Starting at the Castle, you’ll wind down past old buildings filled with modern tourist attractions. The Camera Obscura is a great choice. Moving past the amazing Gladstone’s Land, you’ll enter the intersection with the Mound and George IV Bridge, along with a few decent places to eat. The next block has some of the nicest scenery you’ll find in Edinburgh, but be careful during the Festival as it’s also the busiest part. After that you’ll find gems like The Museum of Childhood - a great family choice. Be sure to peek down the ‘closes’ to see some densely packed Edinburgh houses. Finally as you follow the final block down you’ll come to Scotland’s Parliament, and the Palace of Holyrood. A great day out in one street.
