Edinburgh
The capital of Scotland, Edinburgh has a history of nearly 700 years. The old architecture all around and the rich Scottish flavor make this one of the UK's cities which are well worth seeing. The bustling shopping streets, old and new museums, the alluring experience of whiskey, and the Elephant Café where the Harry Potter stories were born make visitors fall in love instantly with the simple elegance of this art suffused city.

Castle
Edinburgh Castle stands tall at the center of the city atop an extinct volcano. The castle on top of the cliffs is imposingly magnificent. A witness to Scotland's long history, it has served as a royal residence, a military fortress and even a prison. In later eras, the king began to renovate the castle into a residential palace. Currently, the oldest extant part of the building is a small chapel which was built in the 11th century. It can be said that Edinburgh Castle is at the core of Scottish national history. On display in the castle you can see the Scottish crown jewels and the famous Stone of Destiny. Historically, Scottish royalty sat on it during their coronation ceremony.

It is also the commanding heights of Edinburgh, and you can take a trip along the top of the hill to see the spectacular panorama of Edinburgh. Every sunrise and sunset, many tourists will come here to enjoy the beautiful scenery, often able to take beautiful photos. Going east along Princes Street to the end of the Carlton Hill. The mountain is not high, and slowly walks up, all the way is lush scenery. When the weather is fine, many locals will come here to sunbathe on the lawn or have a picnic.
Royal Mile
4.6/5
403 Reviews
The Royal Mile is a succession of streets which form the main thoroughfare of the Old Town of the city of Edinburgh. As the name suggests, the Royal Mile is approximately one Scots mile long, and runs between two foci of history in Scotland, from Edinburgh Castle at the top of the Castle Rock down to Holyrood Abbey. The streets which make up the Royal Mile are (west to east) Castle Esplanade, Castlehill, Lawnmarket, High Street, Canongate and Abbey Strand. The Royal Mile is Edinburgh Old Town's busiest tourist street, rivalled only by Princes Street in the New Town.
