The Los Bandiras Monument, designed by Victor Brecheret (Victor Brecheret), is located at an entrance to St. Paul's Ibirapura Park (Ibirapuera Park). It was commissioned by the city and completed in 1954, depicting the struggles and victories of the colonial interior of 17th-century Brazil through huge granite blocks and heroic socialist realism. Nonetheless, the size, nobility and diversity of the settlers were awe-inspiring. Thoughts about the less pleasant aspects of colonial expansion came later. Definitely worth a visit on the way in and out of the park.
