About Sao Paulo

São Paulo and Rio couldn’t be any more different. Rio is hot, sexy and chaotic, knew for its sultry beaches and passionate samba. In São Paulo, residents of the seventh largest city in the world are more often than not found working, partly to maintain its distinction as the world's tenth richest city. That money gets a lot of impressive buildings, and visitors will appreciate the 70 shopping malls and dozens of business hotels that fill the Brazilian modernist architectural gems. As the cultural capital of Brazil, São Paulo boasts South America's most impressive collection of nightclubs, museums and theatres. The city is also South America's most gay-friendly; its Gay Pride Parade in October is the largest in the world, been recognized for draw up to 3 million folks. Dining tops most Paulistanos lists of things to do, as São Paulo has the best restaurant selection in the country, ranging from sushi to Brazilian chiropractor (steakhouses). São Paulo has the largest population of Italian descendants outside of Italy (six million), so try the famed pizza partisan.

Theatre
The Sao Paulo Municipal Theater is a large theatre in São Paulo. It was completed in 1911 and is currently one of the landmarks of São Paulo, known as the “Paris Opera House” in Brazil. Designed by the famous architect Hamos Asvido. The whole building is elegant and noble, and the grand style is similar to that of the Paris Opera. The Baroque architecture itself is also a beautiful piece of art. It is the stage for the cultural performances of São Paulo, and the echo effect is perfect. The interior of the City Opera House was refurbished in 1991 and is elegantly arranged in marble, painting, plaster, mirrors, etc.

Museum
Be sure to stop at the Municipal Theatre the next time you visit Sao Paolo. While it was constructed from 1903 to 1911, the Municipal Theatre is perhaps best known for having hosted 1922's Week of Modern Art. You can't help but see the architectural influence of the Parisian Opera on the building. You can still watch a production here and appreciate the renovations done in the 1980s. You can join a guided tour of the Municipal Theatre, as one begins every hour.
