The Dutch slope is a Nagasaki attraction, there is also a large slope, the end of the Dutch slope is the Dapu Catholic Church. From the Edo era to the Meiji era, many foreigners have walked on this ramp. Because Japan had long had trade with the Netherlands, Nagasaki people at the time referred to all Western foreigners as "Dutch people." Perhaps because many foreigners living nearby had to pass through the area when they went to the Dapu Catholic Church, the stone ramp was called "Dutch slope."
