It's in a very open space, rare for Japan! The last picture is the view from the field. The field can be used under bad weather. As pictured, there is a cafe with a small terrace space and a stage. They serve full meals and snacks, as well as protein shakes. You can rent everything you need: shoes and socks, full outfit, towels... Weather seems to be key; I would make sure to pick a time and day with clear skies. Although it might be impressive to watch a thunderstorm from up here?🌩️ As the view point is in Roppongi, you are right in front of the Tokyo tower, but looking down at it, which is a pretty unique experience🗼 When I entered the space, as pictured, a row of tourists were all sitting on the bottom of all the windows, blocking the view and making it feel crowded. But the space is actually pretty wide, with a corridor and a few other rooms. If you keep walking away from the entrance area, there are empty spaces with seats. ❗Tips: 1) just outside of the observatory, there is a mymizu water bottle refill station! You can use it to refill your bottle before or after enjoying the attraction. 2. There are exhibits going on in the attraction space, which I hadn’t at all paid attention to. My first time experiencing Halloween in Tokyo – the crowds were crazier than I imagined! If you asked me, "Just how crazy is Halloween in Tokyo?" I used to just say, "It's probably just lots of people cosplaying and it's very lively, right?" But after actually walking the streets of Tokyo for Halloween, I can only say— Photos simply can't capture the sheer scale of it. 😳 This time, we decided to personally step into the streets of Tokyo and experience the legendary Halloween carnival. We originally imagined a night full of quirky costumes, photos, laughter, and a party atmosphere. But it turned out to be: "A fantastic, fun, but also a little scary, crowd adventure." 😂🎃 ⸻ 👻 The Halloween atmosphere has fully kicked off in Shinjuku. As night fell, the streets of Tokyo began to change. Walking around Shinjuku, you could already see many people dressed up in elaborate costumes. The streets of Tokyo, where people usually wear suits, office attire, and casual wear, suddenly transformed into a giant live-action cosplay event on Halloween night. Some dressed up as game characters, some as movie figures, some went for a horror theme, and others, completely unfazed by the cold, wore incredibly daring costumes out in the streets. 🤣 Walking around, you couldn't help but look around. 📸 Mario! 👻 Ghostbusters! 🤡 A terrifying clown! 🐱 A cute little wildcat! 🧟 Zombies, ghosts, vampires… Almost every kind of character was there. Some people didn't just buy a costume; they meticulously prepared everything from makeup and wigs to clothing and accessories. Their dedication was truly admirable. ⸻ 🎭 The most interesting thing about Halloween in Tokyo: Everyone is really involved. I think the most interesting thing about Japanese people participating in Halloween is how seriously they take it. Normally, people in Tokyo are quite quiet and orderly. But on Halloween, it's like a completely different person is turned on. Clothes you wouldn't normally wear, makeup you wouldn't normally put on, hairstyles you wouldn't normally try—all of these are possible today! 😂 And the most interesting thing is that everyone on the street seems to agree: "Everyone's here to have fun today." So you'll see many strangers taking photos, greeting each other, and admiring each other's costumes. But the street atmosphere we saw this year was actually a bit different from what we imagined. There were relevant alcohol control measures in place, and some convenience stores also restricted the sale of alcohol at night. So while there was less of that "crazy drunken party" feeling, it also meant that there were fewer out-of-control situations on the streets. ⸻ 🇯🇵 This is a very Japanese-style "calm revelry" I actually find this a very interesting contrast. Everyone can have a blast, but it doesn't completely spiral out of control. This contrast of "revelry while maintaining order" is what left a deep impression on me this year's Tokyo Halloween. ⸻ 📸 Of course, we still had to take photos! Even though there were so many people, how could we not take any photos since we were there? So we tried to capture some shots when the crowds thinned out a bit. Some of the costumes were truly amazing. Especially some group cosplays; when everyone appeared together, it really felt like a movie scene. #underratedspots I discovered a gem in the tiny underrated town of Seki! The owner was kind enough to prepare a bento for me on their day off after I contacted them at the last minute, and it really saved me! I later had the pleasure of dining in, and glad I did! The restaurant plays cool jazz, and the eclectic menu is mostly vegan. Everything I ordered was absolutely delicious, utilizing many local ingredients alongside nearby brewed craft beer. You can tell the owner is a music lover, and often have live concerts. Please note that the owner cooks alone in the kitchen with only one hall staff, so service might take a bit of time when it is crowded. However, everyone was lovely, great vibes and time flew by. The restaurant is just a few minutes' walk from a direct bus to Gifu and is definitely worth the trip. Some travel scenery, is not something you'll necessarily see just because you arrive. Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is one of those. One of the most anticipated parts of this trip to Japan was the legendary Tateyama Kurobe Snow Valley. I was full of anticipation, but on the first day of our ascent, we encountered heavy snow and dense fog. The scenery along the way was almost completely swallowed by the white fog; all we could see was a vast expanse of white. Even standing in the Snow Valley, the massive snow walls I had expected weren't as breathtaking as I had imagined. The frigid air, the falling snow, and the impenetrable visibility were somewhat disappointing. After all… We'd come all this way; who would willingly turn back like this? 🥲 So after the first day, we had this thought in our minds: "Let's try again." ⸻ ☁️ Day 2|Undeterred, We'll Challenge Tateyama Again On the second day, we decided to challenge Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route once more. To be honest, I didn't know if the weather would be good before we set off. But that's sometimes how travel is. All you can do is give yourself another chance. As we continued our ascent up the mountain, the previously overcast sky began to change. The clouds gradually dispersed. And then— the snow-capped mountains suddenly appeared before us. But standing inside the snow wall, I realized, the photos and the experience of seeing it in person are completely different. Thick snow piled up on both sides, the snow wall so high it almost blocked out the sky. Walking in the middle, you suddenly feel incredibly small. Especially when the sunlight pierced through the clouds and shone on the snow wall, the whole world seemed to suddenly fall silent. It was truly cold. The park sits at around 850 metres above sea level and has been protecting and observing these wild macaques since 1964. Getting there is part of the experience. From Nagano, you can take the Nagano Dentetsu train to Yudanaka, followed by a bus towards the Snow Monkey Park, before walking roughly 35 minutes to the entrance. Alternatively, buses from Nagano Station can take you directly towards the Snow Monkey Park area. The final walk follows a forested mountain trail, with uneven ground, steps and slopes, so comfortable shoes are essential. The monkeys themselves are remarkably entertaining to watch. Some sit quietly in the hot spring, others groom each other, while younger macaques play and climb around their parents. Despite being accustomed to visitors, they remain wild animals, so there is no feeding or touching them. The park asks visitors to keep their distance and avoid using selfie sticks or getting cameras too close to the monkeys. The biggest attraction is undoubtedly winter. While the monkeys can be seen throughout the year, their famous hot-spring bathing behaviour is primarily associated with the colder months. The park itself warns that monkeys don’t necessarily use the hot spring at all times, and their appearance can vary depending on the season and conditions. Checking the park’s latest monkey forecast before heading out is therefore worthwhile. It is worth combining the visit with a stay around Yudanaka or nearby Shibu Onsen, where you can experience the traditional hot-spring town atmosphere for yourself. Rather than treating Jigokudani as just a quick photo stop, I would give yourself several hours to enjoy the walk, observe the monkeys and take in the mountain scenery. Is it worth visiting? 9/10 ⭐️⭐️ Absolutely, especially if you have never seen Japanese macaques in the wild. It is touristy, particularly during the winter peak, but there is something genuinely special about watching these animals go about their daily lives in such an unusual mountain setting. Just remember that the monkeys are the stars here—you are the visitor in their environment. If you’re visiting in winter, go early if possible. The park has warned of heavy winter crowds, limited parking and possible entry restrictions during particularly busy periods, so public transport is recommended.

After a lot of studying and planning, I came up with this Mr Fuji itinerary that ended up being the best possible, now I'm here to share it with everyone to make your planning a bit easier! I started by heading to Fuji city, explored there a bit before taking a bus to Fujinomiya for the night, that's the closest city to Fuji-san and the best place to enjoy sunrise views! After your night there, start your day early, enjoy the sunrise views and then take an early bus Kawaguchi lake, along the way you'll pass Lake Motosu and Shoji, for some completely crowd free views of Fuji above their calm and clear waters. Once reached Kawaguchi lake, rent a bike or e-bike and ride around the lake, you can stop along the way for lunch and to take a break at a lovely cafe, I enjoyed it so much that I ended up ringing along the lake twice!!! Take your time and spend most of your day there then bring your bike back to the rental place and head to Fujiyoshida, you can take a bus or taxi but I opted to walk there (it takes around 40 minutes), spend your second night there. If you can, wake up early again and ho enjoy the sunrise at Chureito pagoda, if you can't wake up, like me ahah, head there a bit later in the morning but expect to have to queue a bit, its'sthe only place where you're going to find some crowds but the views make it worth it! After checking out the pagoda and the park around it, it's time to explore the rest of the city, there's more to do and see that you'd expect! Take pics at the iconic Honcho street and then walk up along that road getting closer and closer to Mt Fuji, until you reach the incredibly dreamy Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, probably my fav shrive I visited during my three months in Japan! It's now time to leave Fuji-san, take one last look while heading to your next destination, could be back to Tokyo or somewhere else, I personally went to Kamakura after this short trip to Fuji. The best part is, it runs between 2 of Japan’s most popular cities‑ Kyoto and Osaka. 📍 It’s called the Kyo Train Garaku But you’ll need to plan your trip! It only runs a few times a day and only on weekends and public holidays‑ that’s how special this train is! And because we don’t want you to miss out... ✨ HERE’S EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ✨ ⏰ Arrive at least 30 mins early. It’s super popular with locals, and you’ll want to be first in line to grab the best seat 🍱 You can eat & drink on board but honestly, we didn’t see anyone doing this 🚞 It’s slower than the Shinkansen (45‑50 mins vs 15 mins) but soooo much more scenic 🚫 This little beauty is not covered by the JR Pass, so you’ll need a separate ticket 🎫 You don’t need to pre book. I’ve been to Tokyo more than once, but so far, this has easily been my most adventurous experience in the city. Imagine sitting in a tiny go-kart on actual Tokyo roads, then looking beside you and seeing a normal sedan… or worse, a huge van. Suddenly you realise just how SMALL your kart actually is! Our drive took us through some of Tokyo’s most iconic areas, from Shinjuku → Harajuku → Shibuya, surrounded by real city traffic. And the timing made it even better. We started while it was still bright, then watched the sky slowly turn golden as sunset appeared over Tokyo. By the time the city lights and skyline started coming alive, I honestly couldn’t stop looking around. Mind. Blown. I’ve explored Tokyo by train, walked its neighbourhoods and admired the skyline from above—but seeing Tokyo from a tiny kart at road level was a completely different experience. One moment you’re enjoying the skyline, the next moment there’s a VAN beside your kart reminding you to concentrate on driving. Definitely not your typical sightseeing tour! ⚠️ Important tip: Don’t assume your normal driving licence is enough. You’ll need the appropriate licence/permit that is legally recognised for driving in Japan, so check the latest official requirements before booking. And of course, follow your operator’s safety briefing and Japanese road rules carefully. Would I do it again? YES—but that first moment surrounded by Tokyo traffic is impossible to forget.
