But Pinnacle Peak is truly effortless, absolutely the most beautiful and easiest Scramble in Washington. There's a stunning reflection lake nearby, Pinnacle Glacier Tarn, where you can reach without climbing Scramble by taking a detour. Parking is at Reflection Lake, not hard to find a spot. The distance and elevation gain of the trail are very short, perfect for beginners who want to try Scramble. The final Class 3 Scramble is considered Solid Class 3, best to have some Scramble experience, but even if you're afraid and don't climb to the top, you can still see beautiful scenery. For climbers, it's very simple, climbing in mountaineering boots is no problem, easy and enjoyable. Taking a detour on the Pinnacle Peak Trail can lead to the nearby Glacier Tarn (Figures 1-4), you don't need to go to Pinnacle Peak to reach it, the route can be found on AllTrails Activity. Fresh typhoon shelter crab and steamed fish satisfied our Chinese food cravings, and most importantly, we got to eat some stir-fried greens. ❤️ Seattle Central Library is an architecturally charming building made of glass and steel. However, there are many homeless people here who either surf the internet or sleep. We took some photos and left. ❤️ The Space Needle is Seattle’s iconic landmark, with a 360-degree glass observation deck overlooking the cityscape. ❤️ Chihuly Garden and Glass features colorful glass artworks with a dreamlike interplay of light and shadow. There is a combo ticket available for Chihuly Garden and Glass and the Space Needle, so it’s best to book your visit in advance. ❤️ If the weather is sunny in Seattle, it’s recommended to take an Argosy Cruises boat at Pier 54. They offer two routes: a 1-hour cruise along the coastline to see the city skyline, and a 2-hour Locks Cruise that boards at Lake Union, circles Seattle, and disembarks at Pier 54. You’ll find seafood, fruits, and small shops here—perfect for strolling and snacking. 4️⃣ Seattle Waterfront Walking along the waterfront is very relaxing. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, so you can grab a meal when you’re tired. 5️⃣ Lake Union You’ll often see seaplanes taking off and landing here. On sunny days, sitting by the lake is incredibly soothing. 6️⃣ Bainbridge Island (accessible by ferry) The ferry ride itself is scenic, offering views of the city and the sea. This is probably my favorite little park in Seattle. It's just a 20-minute drive away, and the lakeside is shaded with plenty of trees, perfect for barbecues. Look up, and you'll see the snow-capped mountains. Even though it's already July in Seattle, the weather has been gloomy for a week straight, with two rainy days (ruining several tennis matches I had planned). Thankfully, the afternoon before heading back to the Bay Area, the sun finally came out. At 4 PM, I drove to the lakeside for a stroll, and the moment I stepped out of the car, I forgave all the recent gloomy days. There's so much to do here. You can read under the shade of the trees, bring your own grill for a barbecue, kayak on the lake, or take a walk along the shore. You can even go hiking. The roadside is adorned with flowers of various colors, and any random photo you take will have a unique foreground. The best part is how convenient the location is. After walking around, we were able to make it back to the city in time for dinner at around six. All it takes is half a sunny day to fall in love with Seattle again. 📍: Seward Park

A short trip to Houston to escape LA for foie gras (Note: It's not that Houston is famous for foie gras, but California doesn't allow it 🈚️) The June weather made me feel like I was swimming as soon as I got off the plane 🏊🏻‍♀️ Day 1 | NASA - Water Wall - Foie Gras - Drinks 👩🏼‍🚀 Maybe because of the World Cup, NASA was packed with people. It was a one-hour wait for a ten-minute tour, not ideal for those who aren't particularly interested in space exploration. Don't forget to take a photo with the giant astronaut at the nearby McDonald's (I saved this for later and realized I forgot to do it when I got home 😥). 💦 The Water Wall is a quick 10-minute stop. You might get splashed, and it's not as tall as you'd imagine. However, having such a structure in the city is quite unique. The Galleria is right next door, so I took a quick stroll—it’s a nice spot. 😋 Dinner was at Hachi, a Japanese restaurant. Their foie gras seasoning is on the lighter side, but it's still rich enough. As an LA resident, I indulged in foie gras as revenge! Besides foie gras, the geoduck was also delicious—I love that chewy texture. 🍹 At Refuge, I had a Terere and a Clerico, both refreshing and slightly sweet wines. They also offer small shot glasses, and I tried the Thai Tea flavor—it was amazing! Highly recommended! Day 2 | Butterfly Watching - Art Museum - Skyline 🦋 In the morning, I visited the Museum of Natural Science to see butterflies. Street parking is cheaper than the parking lot. Once inside, you can buy tickets directly, and there’s a show every 15 minutes. There were many beautiful butterflies. Hermann Park is right outside, but it was raining that day, so we didn’t explore much. 👩🏻‍🎨 It rained all day, so we headed to the Museum of Fine Arts. The entire museum is connected underground by three light tunnels, which are quite interesting and photogenic. Photo 11 shows the tunnel connecting Glassell and Kinder, while photos 12 and 13 show the tunnel connecting Kinder and Law. 🏙️ After dinner at B&B Butchers (unfortunately, they no longer serve whole foie gras, only a piece inside the Wellington steak), we planned to watch the sunset. However, the weather was too gloomy, so we just checked out the skyline at Eleanor Tinsley Park. It felt a bit like being back in Tianhe, Guangzhou. Day 3 | Coffee ☕️ On the last day, I ended the trip with a visit to BlendIn Coffee Club, which I had been looking forward to. It was my first time seeing machine-brewed pour-over coffee. While it was fascinating, I couldn’t help but wonder if the machine version loses the unique touch of each barista. Although machine-brewed coffee is likely more consistent, I believe pour-over coffee should have a distinct flavor from each individual. If I had more time, I might have explored the wetlands or forests near Houston. But this was just a short trip. Next time I crave foie gras, I’ll head to Seattle instead 🦐🫪

Summer in Seattle is simply wonderful! During the Independence Day holiday, I went hiking at Mount Rainier and was surprised that the $30 entrance fee was waived, plus there weren’t many people around. Here’s the timeline: arrived at the Mount Rainier parking lot at 10:30 AM, started hiking at 11:00 AM, finished at 3:30 PM. Took the classic Skyline Trail, where I saw waterfalls, snowy mountains, forests, and cliffs along the way. I was also lucky to spot squirrels 🐿️, deer 🦌, and a bear 🐻! 🌟 Essentials: 2-3 bottles of water, insect repellent spray, chocolate, nuts, bananas, sunscreen, sunglasses 🌟 Tips: For restrooms, head to Paradise Inn where the lines are much shorter

Their most famous dishes are New England Chowder (clam chowder, lobster chowder, scallop chowder...). You can choose small, medium, or large bowls. If you find the small bowl insufficient, the medium bowl is just right. Unless you're sharing with someone, you can order a large bowl of chowder. Spent some time walking around Seattle. It’s got a massive reputation for coffee and tech, but I was mostly looking for design inspiration and quiet neighborhoods. Here’s my honest take on what’s actually worth your time. Pioneer Square was easily my favorite area. It’s the oldest part of the city—red bricks, cobblestone streets, and a very grounded, historic feel. It’s the perfect place to just wander, grab a filter coffee, and check out some independent shops. Fremont is another good neighborhood. It has a quirky, slightly weird vibe. Lots of public art, interesting local boutiques, and the giant stone troll under the bridge. Definitely felt some creative energy there that I appreciated. As for the main attractions: · MoPOP (Museum of Pop Culture) is actually worth the ticket. The building’s design is wild, and the music exhibitions inside are great if you’re looking for creative inspo. · Pike Place Market is crowded and chaotic. The famous 'flying fish' thing is whatever, but the seafood chowder nearby is actually legit. · Skip paying $37 to go up the Space Needle. Just walk up to Kerry Park instead. The view of the skyline with the mountain in the background is free and honestly better. If you want to clear your head, driving out to Snoqualmie Falls is a decent option. It’s a quick escape from the city, very green, and quite relaxing. Overall, a solid city. Good coffee, decent creative pockets, just dodge the obvious tourist traps.

Rainier. 📍Madrona Park Beach (P1-7) The shoreline stretches quite a bit, perfect for quietly sunbathing/reading/relaxing, or for barbecues/parties/swimming/paddleboarding. Look up and you’ll see snowy mountains and lake views—super healing. 📍Madison Park Beach (P8-13) Though the shoreline is small, it’s close to downtown, making it ideal for weekend relaxation and a post-meal walk. It’s hard to imagine what worries the people living in the building right in front could have. P.S. 🅿️ Plenty of parking spots, and nearby street parking is also fairly convenient.

As soon as I arrived, I took the Link Light Rail from Sea-Tac International Airport and headed straight downtown. I was surprised by how incredibly convenient it was! At around $3 for a one-way ticket, it's very affordable, and since it directly connects the airport to the city, it felt like the perfect transportation option for layover travelers. The first place I visited was Seattle's iconic landmark, Pike Place Market. The market had such a charming atmosphere, and it was so much fun browsing the food stalls and boutique shops. The streets themselves felt like a scene from a movie, so just walking around gave me a real sense of being on vacation. And of course, when you think of Seattle, you can't miss the Space Needle! Once you buy a ticket and head up, you get a sweeping panoramic view of the Seattle cityscape. The city's uniquely calm vibe was absolutely beautiful 🩵 I also tried riding the Monorail along the way. It was a short ride, but it really gave me that perfect travel vibe! When I got hungry, I stopped by a popular taco spot and had a burrito and a taco plate. It gave off such an authentic American vibe, so I was super satisfied! If you're someone who hates the idea of wasting time at the airport just because it's a layover, I highly recommend this itinerary. Right in the heart of downtown Seattle, the Seattle Central Library captures your attention with its striking, angular glass and steel facade. Designed by the world-renowned architect Rem Koolhaas, this deconstructivist masterpiece has been praised as resembling a massive "steel wheel" or an intricate spiderweb, establishing itself as a true Seattle landmark since opening its doors in 2004. Step inside, and instead of your typical stacked rectangular floors, you'll be blown away by the geometrically arranged "Platforms"—each serving a distinct purpose—and the continuous, spiraling bookshelf known as the "Book Spiral." The 4th-floor "Red Hall" is particularly striking, leaving a lasting impression with its bold, monochromatic red walls and corridors. Plus, the massive glass windows offer stunning panoramic views of the city, making it the absolute perfect spot to snap some Instagram-worthy photos. Admission is completely free! We highly recommend taking the elevator straight to the top floor and slowly making your way down to truly experience the building's architectural flow. Travel 🇺🇸 Seattle, Washington, USA 🩶 Espresso Vivace As the birthplace of Starbucks—the ultimate symbol of American coffee—Seattle is home to countless cafes serving up incredible coffee. You definitely need to go on a cafe tour in this "City of Coffee." Out of all the cafes I visited in Seattle, Espresso Vivace was my absolute favorite. I love this place so much that I actually went twice during my 3-day, 2-night trip. There are two locations near downtown Seattle: Espresso Vivace Capitol Hill and Espresso Vivace South Lake Union. If you're taking the light rail, they're just a 7-minute and 15-minute walk from the Capitol Hill Station, respectively. When you're at Espresso Vivace, you absolutely have to try their Cafe Nico. I've visited a lot of famous cafes during my world travels, but the Cafe Nico here is hands down the best. It costs $6.91 a cup (tax included). They zest a fresh orange into it to give it a citrusy kick, and the flavor and aroma are simply fantastic. Plus, the rich, nutty notes of the espresso and milk make it so incredibly delicious. Both locations feature large floor-to-ceiling windows and comfortable seating, so there were plenty of people working on their laptops. I went to the Capitol Hill location on my first day in Seattle, and I still can't stop thinking about the vibe of that space with its warm sunshine and cool breeze. Fun fact: Espresso Vivace is widely credited as the place that pioneered latte art in the US. The baristas are masters at classic latte art, making the drinks a treat for both your eyes and your taste buds.
