Dramatic Cliffs at Mirador Es Colomer
Mirador Es Colomer offers one of the most breathtaking views on the island. Situated in the Balearic Islands, Spain, this viewpoint towers above the sea with sheer cliffs plunging into the deep blue waters below. The drive to the location is scenic and heightens the anticipation, but the true reward lies in stepping out to witness the expansive horizon. The air is invigorating and untamed, with views that extend endlessly in every direction. Strolling along the pathways provides varying perspectives, each more stunning than the last. While it is a popular destination, it retains a sense of tranquility, especially during early mornings or late evenings. Mirador Es Colomer is ideal for photography, quiet reflection, or simply standing still to absorb the beauty. For nature enthusiasts and lovers of dramatic landscapes, this spot is unforgettable and undeniably worth the journey.

Formentor Lighthouse - Spectacular Views but Not Easy to Reach
#falladventures
#travel
#familytravel
The Formentor Lighthouse sits at the end of the Cap de Formentor peninsula. It is interesting to see and the views of the coastline from this spot are spectacular, but it was very challenging to get here, and it was probably not a good use of the limited time I had that day. During the busier months of the year, the road past Playa Formentor is closed to traffic. Only bikes and the 334 Bus from Port de Pollença can travel past this point. I parked at the moderately large lot at Playa Formentor after a quick visit to the beach and waited for the next bus to arrive. However, even on a weekday in late September, there was a huge crowd also waiting for the bus. Even when 2 buses simultaneously arrived, only about half of those waiting could get on both buses. It was chaos as everyone pushed and shoved to get to the door of one of the buses. There is no standing allowed on the bus and most of the seats remained occupied by those traveling from Port de Pollença. I then had to wait another 40 minutes for the next bus to arrive. Again, chaos ensued as a new crowd had reformed. There is no organized queue and those showing up just a few minutes before the bus arrived maneuvered their way to the front even though others like me had been waiting for an hour. At least this time I knew exactly where to stand to position myself to board. Once we arrived at the Lighthouse, it took all of 10 minutes to experience the setting and take some photos. I passed the time on the terrace with a drink and a snack from the cafe while waiting for the next bus. When the bus arrived, it was the same challenge to get on the bus with many others waiting as well. The total time spent trying to get from Playa Formentor to the Lighthouse and back was 2 1/2 hours. This for a visit that lasts 10-15 minutes. In retrospect, I should have caught the bus from Port de Pollença and then stopped at Playa Formentor on the way back. During the off-season, you can drive to the lighthouse, but parking spaces are limited.

Vall de Boquer - Wonderful hiking, nature and bay!
#falladventures

Terrific 3.6-mile out-and-back hike through the rugged but scenic Boquer Valley, which brings you to a spectacular cove, Cala Boquer. The Boquer Valley feels very remote, although the hike begins near busy Port de Pollença. The hike is easy until you get closer to Cala Boquer, at which point it gets moderately difficult as you descend to the shores of the cove. The views are amazing, and you can get right down on the water edge on the pebbly beach. Water shoes would be helpful if you want to go swimming. The hike took 2 hours unless you stay longer at the beach. No shade throughout so bring water and go early in the day if here in the hotter months. There was hardly anyone else on the trail or at the cove. I saw more wild goats than people which added to the experience.

Es 365 Escalons - Unique Experience Climbing the 365 Steps to the Calvary Chapel

Walking up the 365 steps to reach the Calvary Chapel overlooking the town of Pollença is a unique and wonderful experience. Pilgrims once climbed to the top on their knees (not advisable). At the top is a simple yet lovely 18th-century chapel. The views from the top of the town and the surrounding countryside are beautiful. The steps are lined with Cypress trees with scenic views along the way. The climb is only moderately difficult. There is a small cafe at the top with a few tables outside. It was a relaxing spot to sit and relax with a San Miguel, taking in the scene.

Playa del Puerto de Pollensa - Lack of sun-beds ruined the appeal
#falladventures
#travel
#familytravel
I was really disappointed to find no sun-beds or facilities of any kind on the beach when we arrived on the 26th June. Problems with the council and contractor have meant a delay in the facilities getting up and running. A real shame as the beach was very handy to our apartment and we had returned to Puerto Pollensa for a second year, partly because of all the excellent facilities on the beach last year. We tried going old school and lying on towels, but the beach was like concrete, so not at all comfortable. We ended up getting the bus a couple of days to other beaches. The front felt much quieter than the last time we visited. I would think the beachfront restaurants and cafes will be suffering due to the delay. A lovely promenade to walk along. If you like to snorkel, there are many better beaches on the island to do it.

Mirador Es Colomer Formentor - A corner of peace and nature in Mallorca!
#falladventures
#travel
#familytravel
I visited the Mirador Es Colomer (Pollença) in February this year, and the experience was spectacular. It is one of those places that convey peace and grandeur at the same time, with breathtaking views of the cliffs and the Mediterranean Sea. The environment is very well maintained and is a perfect place to stop, take in the landscape, and take unforgettable photographs. In addition, mountain goats are often seen in the area, adding an even more authentic and natural touch to the landscape. The road to get there is narrow and curvy, but it is totally worth the effort, as the panorama from above is one of the most beautiful on the island. I recommend going early, enjoying the surroundings, and, if possible, coinciding with the sunset, when the light turns the landscape into something even more magical. A must for those visiting the north of Mallorca.

Formentor Playa - To try without excessive expectations
#falladventures
#travel
#familytravel
The best beach seen in Mallorca, at least for the beautiful water and the absence or almost absence of algae.
It consists of 2 fairly short and narrow stretches of beach, separated by a central area where bars and restaurants are located. On both sides, there is an organized and a free side.
One half of the beach is cheaper (umbrella and 2 sunbeds at 35 €), the other is definitely expensive (90 €).
There is free parking until full, but we arrived at 10.30 in the middle of August, and there was still plenty of space.
It is located in a quite isolated and natural area, so the road to get there is also pleasant.
Negative note the excursion boats that continue to dock and then unload a lot of people who crowd the sea and stretches of free beach. Luckily, they haven't seen since early afternoon.
Try it even if you can not expect earthly paradises....

Mallorca love
I can only recommend caravaning in Mallorca—it’s honestly the BEST way to explore the island’s gorgeous outdoor scenery! If you wanna plan a lit itinerary and catch those sunny sea views, this is the move 🔥.
Picture this: you wake up to the salty sea breeze, surrounded by jaw-dropping nature, and wherever you park is your slice of paradise. The beaches are totally next-level, and you’ll find epic natural spots like Cala Mondragó Natural Park (Address: Carretera de S’Alqueria Blanca, s/n, 07691 Santanyí, Mallorca), which is open all year and sooo worth a visit for hiking and swimming.
Mallorca is packed with cute seaside towns and Insta-worthy viewpoints—make stops in Port de Sóller for sunset, and don’t miss Cap de Formentor for the most mind-blowing coastal panoramas (seriously, phones out because these views are 🤯).
Pro tip: Mallorca has campsites like Camping Playa, near Alcúdia (Address: Av. de la Playa, 1, 07400 Alcúdia), open daily and perfect for a chill overnighter under the stars.
Ready for legendary adventures and dreamy sea days? Mallorca caravan life is calling—just grab your wheels and go! For planning help, hit up trip.com for the best deals on caravan rentals and local guides.

Mallorca's Cap de Formentor: The Pinnacle of Mediterranean Sunsets
Cap de Formentor, standing proudly at the northernmost tip of Mallorca, is a paradise for sunset enthusiasts. As the sun slowly sinks into the Mediterranean, its golden rays stretch across the cliffs and the azure sea, creating a pathway that seems to lead to the horizon.
Standing by the lighthouse, the sea breeze carries the scent of pine and sea salt, rushing past as the view unfolds like a vivid painting. Within mere minutes, the sky transforms its hues—from dazzling gold to gentle peach, and finally to deep indigo. When the sun disappears beneath the horizon, the world is enveloped in a warm silence, with only the sound of waves crashing against the rocks to remind you that what you just witnessed was not a dream, but a breathtaking sunset spectacle.

Step back in time with a visit to Pollença
Welcome to the town of Pollença. You’ll see that I’ve already visited the Port de Pollença, but today I travel approximately 6km inland to see the town that gave the port it’s name. It’s charming, it’s cute and you’ll want to spend more than a day here exploring all of the nooks and crannies it has to offer!
As you look through the photos, you’ll see why this town has been listed as one of the most beautiful towns and villages to visit in Spain. It has a unique charm that doesn’t feel tainted by tourism in anyway. Make sure you climb the 365 steps that lead up to the Calvari church. Yes, you read that right - 365 steps - one for each day of the year!
The Calvari church was built between 1795-1799. And to reward you for the effort in climbing the steps, there is a cafe to one side of the church. Make sure you look back over the climb you’ve just accomplished and Marcel at the scenery all around.
This town also boasts the Pont Romano, or Roman Bridge, and you can discover that with me today.
Another one of the town’s defining features is the Convent and Cloister of Sant Domingo. The cloisters are also home to the Museum of Pollença and it even houses a collection of contemporary art which was free to enter.
Make sure you check out the Baroque cloister, famous for its four arched corridors. It was closed by time I got there, but I was able to take a sneak peek. It’s here that music concerts and festivals take place.
After a lot of walking and exploring, it was time to relax with a cold beer. I headed back to the bottom of the calvari steps to enjoy a bit of time in this outdoor bar.
Along the way, you’ll see many examples of the cute blonde stonework that make this town so popular with locals and tourists alike.
All in all, Pollença is a beautiful town, and is a must see whilst visiting Mallorca.

Puerto de Pollença. Does this popular beach town live up to its hype?
Mallorca has so much to offer. Although many people think of Mallorca as either a beach destination or a place to party (I.e. Magaluf), the reality couldn’t be more different! Yes, Mallorca offers those things. But it also has so much culture and history within it’s quaint villages and towns - and I’m on a mission to discover them!
I explored Port de Pollença, or Puerto Pollença. This town is the northernmost town on the island of Mallorca, but it will be well worth the effort in travelling here.
I took some time to explore the beautiful marina, and admired the stunning boats and yachts that are moored here. I also took some time to admire the breathtaking views of the Bay of Pollença. Here, you can enjoy some awe-inspiring views of the Tramuntana Mountain range along with the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. It really is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The Jurassic allure of Cap de Formentor
When many people think of Mallorca, what comes to mind? Sun, sea and booze loving Brits abroad? The truth is, Mallorca has so much more to offer than the stereotypical image that may come to mind. The natural beauty, history and culture on show is some of the best that Southern Europe has to offer.
On the north side of the island is the Tramuntana mountain range. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, the mountain range is the backbone of Mallorca - and the views along this mountain range are absolutely stunning.
At Cap de Formentor, you can visit the northernmost part of Mallorca, which is topped off by Far de Formentor - a Victorian lighthouse that graces the vistas. But one of the most beautiful points to visit whilst on the island of Mallorca is the Mirador de Es Colomer - as can be seen here. The Greens of the Mountains contrast perfectly with the turquoise blues of the Mediterranean Sea. It’ll leave you in awe and will surely be a highlight of your trip to Mallorca.

Spanish Island: Mallorca
Mallorca is located at the western end of the Mediterranean Sea and is the largest and most populous island in Spain's Balearic Islands. It lies southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, approximately 240 km from mainland Spain. The island enjoys a mild climate with distinct seasons—hot, dry summers and mild, humid winters—making it a famous European holiday destination.
✍️ Mallorca has a rich history dating back to prehistoric times. During the Roman Empire, the island gradually developed into an important Mediterranean trading center. In the Middle Ages, it was territory of the Muslim Moors until the 13th century, when James I of Aragon conquered Mallorca and incorporated it into his Christian kingdom.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, tourism began to flourish on the island, attracting many artists and writers such as George Sand and Frédéric Chopin. During the winter of 1838, the couple stayed at the Valldemossa Charterhouse to escape the cold. During this time, Chopin completed his "Raindrop Prelude," while George Sand wrote "A Winter in Mallorca."
🎬Main attractions: *Palma de Mallorca: The island's capital, featuring a spectacular Gothic cathedral (Catedral de Palma, image 6), the Royal Palace (Almudaina Palace), and a charming old town. *Port de Sóller (image 8): A picturesque port town surrounded by steep mountains and azure waters. *Formentor Cape (image 7): Located at the northernmost tip of the island, this is a narrow 20 km long peninsula affectionately called "the meeting point of winds" by locals.
✈️: Palma de Mallorca Airport is the main gateway to the island, offering direct flights to major European cities.
🛳️: Regular ferry services operate from mainland Spanish cities such as Barcelona and Valencia to Mallorca.
🥂Specialties and cuisine: Mallorcan olive oil: The island produces excellent quality olive oil, which is an important ingredient in local dishes; Mallorcan wine, especially red wine from several quality wine regions on the island is worth tasting; Additionally, locally cultivated pearls are a distinctive handicraft of the island.
