🌈1. Home
In the boundless universe, we have established a warm home on a blue planet. Expanding our view to the solar system and the Milky Way, they are also our homes, nurturing us.
1. Flying Over the Milky Way Theater: 8 minutes
2. Optical Planetarium: 8 minutes
3. Gazing at the Stars (Special Explanation in the Optical Planetarium)
🌈2. Universe
The word "universe" always evokes endless imagination, infinite void, romantic star rivers, and mysterious black holes, as if gazing itself is eternal.
The "Universe" exhibition area has five themed zones: "Space-Time", "Gravity", "Light", "Elements", and "Life", showcasing the operating laws of the universe from different perspectives, hitting the core and forefront concepts of modern astronomy.
1. Suppose Theater: 9 minutes
🌈3. Journey
As the name suggests, it is a panoramic display of the long journey of human exploration of the mysteries of the universe, from ancient thoughts to the revolution of modern astronomy, astronomical observatories and research plans around the world, various astronomical satellites, and our own Chinese lunar exploration, space station, and Mars exploration plans.
🌈4. Chinese Astronomy
Chinese astronomy, through thousands of years of diligent observation, has produced a vast number of astronomical records. See the space at Shanghai S&T Museum
Located near by the Dishui lake in Shanghai Pudong district,The Shanghai Science & Technology Museum is China's premier astronomical science museum, where you can explore the mysteries of the universe, get known to the origin of life and how we look at the sky. It’s a little far away from the downtown, which is suggested to take metro line 16 from Longyang road to Dishui Lake, total in 1h16mins.
This museum is perfect for family visiting, especially for teen children, since the Apollo moon landing, human beings have been using their own efforts to recognize and understand the unknown world.
Children here would know the exploration of the starry space, Perhaps one day, they may truly connect with life outside the world, and then we can confidently say ‘Hello, welcome to the world of human beings’.

Finally Checking Out THE Shanghai Planetarium
Excited about this place ever since they announced they were building it, finally able to purchase tickets and wow..the crowds…
It is a branch of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum so it is expected to have a very educational flow throughout their exhibits. All signs are bilinguals so it helps, too! Overall impressive display of astronomical science exhibits and will be more enjoyable with less crowd.
There’s not much else around the area, so can easily make it a day trip. 2-3hrs inside the planetarium and maybe a cab ride to Dishui Lake area to take a stroll along the lake, just to make the hours spent on the metro ride worth it :)
Tips: when buying the tickets through their Wechat page (foreigners can use passport ID), remember to also book the ‘movie ticket’. It’s limited to 50 seats per show.
Getting There - Line16 Dishui Lake stop + 10mins walk.
Attractions - planetarium. Science exhibition.
Hotels - not necessary. Can easily make it a day trip.
Food & Restaurants - only have 2 cafe & restaurants inside the planetarium, no restaurant nearby (unless you’re willing to take a cab, there’s a New Zealand restaurant called Kiwiana not too far).
Shopping - there’s souvenirs shop inside the planetarium.

It was a miracle when my friends and I managed to gain some tickets to the well-known and newly opened Shanghai Astronomy Museum!🪐🌍 Far down in what feels like outside of Shanghai, this museum is clever located in the quiet and quaint Dishui Lake 🛶 It is well worth the trip down to this remote area in Shanghai if you can bag tickets! However, don’t forget to get your tickets in advance 🎫 Here, you can learn all about outer space 🪐 What a great adventure! #space #china #shanghai #astronomy #ChristmasGiveaway

Worth the drive out of the city
Getting tickets for the museum is the most difficult part of the visit. Weekend tickets sold out within 4 minutes of them going live on a Saturday morning. However, it is very cheap at only 20rmb.
Parking at the space museum was not easy when we visited. There are several above ground parking lots and we had to park around a 10 minute walk away from the museum, however, it was free.
Inside the museum Is a great experience. It is well thought out and lots to see and learn. There are many interactive exhibits and some great lighting effects. There is also lots of English to help understand them.
The café on the 2nd floor gets really busy, we visited at 11am on a Saturday morning and just managed to find a seat. We returned an hour later and left after seeing a queue around 30 people long.
This is one of the best museums in Shanghai and is well worth the drive and weekend morning waiting to get a ticket.

Shanghai Planetarium July 7
The dome theater in the Shanghai Planetarium has an inner diameter of 23 meters and an outer diameter of 30 meters. Half of the spherical building is suspended above the ground, and is connected to the concrete shell below by 6 support points on the side of the sphere. Between the sphere and the shell, a ring is formed, allowing sunlight to shine into the interior through the ring, forming a "solar eclipse" on the ground inside. The interior of the sphere is equipped with an 8K resolution dome projection system, advanced laser and stage performance systems, and is used to play various films. Located above the main entrance of the planetarium, the second-floor exhibition hall of the main exhibition adopts a cantilever structure, with a cantilever distance of more than 40 meters and a span of more than 60 meters. It is supported by steel shear walls on both sides, and is equipped with 10 1-ton tuned mass dampers to eliminate the vibration at the end of the cantilever. The inclination angle of the round hole corresponds to the altitude angle of the sun, and the sunlight passing through the "round hole" forms a light spot below, which moves in the square and reflection pool as time passes, forming a simple sundial with the special ground paving.

Shanghai Planetarium 5/7
Step into space and marvel at the enormous Earth, Moon, and Sun. Take a walk through the solar system, admire precious meteorites, and face the beauty of the Milky Way. Learn about our position in space. The "Universe" exhibition area presents the wonders of the universe from five dimensions: time and space, light, gravity, elements, and life. Many interactive exhibits will take you on a journey to explore the evolution and operation of celestial bodies. The "Journey" exhibition area builds a brilliant river of scientific stars, showing the great journey of human exploration of the universe, as well as the beautiful vision of future astronomical development and space exploration, inspiring deep thinking and insight.
Shanghai Planetarium has four professional astronomical observation and celestial demonstration devices. The 65 cm adaptive optical solar telescope (EAST) can observe the sun in multiple bands during the day, showing high-definition images of sunspots, prominences, flares, and more. The 1-meter dual-focus telescope (DOT) can show clear images of the moon, planets, and beautiful deep-sky objects at night.

The architectural design also highlights the theme of the astronomical galaxy by connecting with the urban ecology. The exterior of the planetarium features a large number of curves, and the landscape area outside the main building introduces spiral greenery and walkways that extend naturally outward, forming an organic connection with the surrounding "Starry Sky" park, symbolizing the spiral arms of the galaxy. The proportions of the planetarium's sphere and Dishui Lake have been intentionally adjusted to reflect the relationship between the Earth and the Sun. Themed exhibition areas: Home, Universe, Journey, China Asks the Heavens, Mars, Curious Planet, Meteorite Specimens, Astronomical Artifacts.

The Xihe Tower has three floors. The basement is equipped with a spectrometer system. The first floor is open to the public and features a solar imaging demonstration system with an adaptive optical system in the core tube observation area, which displays high-definition images of sunspots, prominences, and flares. The top floor is an astronomical dome room with a 60 cm adaptive optical solar telescope and three 12 cm full-disk solar telescopes.

Nine days and eight nights for two majors and three minors in Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai
Day 1: From Shenyang to Hangzhou, take the subway from the airport directly to the hotel near Longxiangqiao subway station, then take a taxi to visit the Silk Museum, and make an appointment at any time. At 4 o'clock, we took a taxi to my grandma's house opposite the Broken Bridge and had dinner. The second picture was taken at the hotel. As far as the scenic spot is concerned, the taste was okay. After dinner, we walked along the Broken Bridge and the residual snow to the Yuewang Temple to watch "The Most Reminiscent of Hangzhou". It is worth watching. The earlier you make a reservation, the better the seat will be. See Figure 4.
The next day: The half-day trip to West Lake arranged by Ctrip is directly operated by Ctrip and there is no additional consumption. They also provided some tea and made round fans. We visited the Yuewang Temple again. In the afternoon, we took the high-speed train to Suzhou and checked into a B&B on Pingjiang Road, which is very close to the Humble Administrator’s Garden and Suzhou Museum. We visited Pingjiang Road and Guanqian Street in the evening. (The B&B environment is slightly worse but the location is excellent)
Day 3: Book Humble Administrator’s Garden tickets with a guide on Ctrip. Be sure to find a guide, otherwise it will be like visiting a park. Just outside the south gate of the Humble Administrator's Garden is the Suzhou Museum. (You need to make an appointment in advance.) You can rent a guide at the door. The museum is not very big and can be visited in two hours. We had lunch on the way back to the B&B, it was delicious. The weather was too hot, so I took my baby back to the B&B to take a nap. I went to Qili Shantang in the evening. There were so many people there, so I decided to visit Pingjiang Road again.
Day 4: In the morning, we visited Hanshan Temple in one hour. Suzhou’s small bridges, flowing water, pink walls and black tiles are really eye-catching. There are many beauties taking photos on Pingjiang Road. The weather was too hot and I didn’t want to bother my kids so I didn’t take any pictures, which is a little regretful. In the afternoon, we took a bus to a B&B near Shanghai Disneyland. (Advantages of the B&B: pick-up and drop-off, nice environment and swimming pool. Disadvantages: without supporting facilities, you can only eat instant noodles when you come back from Disneyland.)
Day 5: Departure from Disneyland at 7 o’clock. I want to say that it’s a bit too much to post a separate article.
Day 6: Check into a hotel-style B&B very close to Nanjing Road and the Bund at noon. The location is excellent and the environment is very good. The most important thing is that you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower from the room. I went to the Natural History Museum in the afternoon. It’s worth taking your children to see it. Be sure to rent an interpreter. The Zhending Chicken we had for dinner is really something Northeastern people can’t get used to.
Day 7: Planetarium, I didn’t get a ticket, so I bought a study group ticket from Ctrip. It’s money well spent. Recommend the planetarium.
Day 8: Shanghai Museum in the morning (reservation in advance) Fudan University in the afternoon, enter directly by swiping your ID card. Had dinner at Fudan Beiyuan Canteen. (Ride a shared bicycle on campus) Super convenient.
Day 9: Visit the Imperial City Temple➕After dinner in Yu Garden, go straight to the airport 🔚 (I visit the well-known shops on the Bund and Nanjing Road every night, so I won’t talk about it separately)

Folks who understand, sleep in the interstellar cabin!
Intercontinental of Shanghai Dishui Lake, sleep in the interstellar cabin!
On this suddenly cooling weekend, come and check in the "one island-hotel" in Magic City. The gorgeously returned Intercontinental Hotel of Shanghai Dishui Lake, overlooking the sparkling waves of Dishui Lake, enjoys a private 100,000 square meters island. From an aerial view, the overall shape is like a peach blossom blooming gracefully on the lake, like a beautiful dwelling in the 'Peach Blossom Spring'.
The moment you enter the lobby is undoubtedly amazing, with a 20-meter-high lobby and natural lighting, the top reflects the ripples of water through projection. The reception island adopts a strong golden color and the radiating chandelier extended from the water drop shape, and the wine cabinet on the front of the lobby lounge creates visual tension, easily posting beautiful pictures
*Hidden under the five graceful 'petals' are 281 luxurious guest rooms. At this stage, only the guest rooms in areas C and D are open. These two areas are closer to the lake and have a better view. The guest rooms are spacious and transparent, with suite areas ranging from 85 square meters to 114 square meters.
80% of the guest rooms have cruise-style viewing balconies and spacious rest areas, fully creating a holiday atmosphere. Rich holiday facilities/authentic Chinese and foreign cuisine
Nandao Food Collection All-day Restaurant, Caifeng Building Chinese Restaurant, Korean Specialty Restaurant, Lobby Bar, etc. integrate Chinese and foreign cuisines, bringing guests a delicate encounter and colorful food experience.
The carefully crafted private and luxurious exclusive club Xingyuan Yaji is a secret place in the hotel, and the swimming pool enjoys the lake light and green waves
The outdoor infinity pool is a highlight of the hotel, connected with the lake light, swimming while enjoying the beautiful scenery, not losing the experience of the sea, the indoor constant temperature swimming pool is comfortable and pleasant, and you can swim all year round.
Not far from Nanhui Zui Seaview Park, Haichang Ocean Park, Planetarium, and Maritime Museum, you can play all the way,
The Shanghai Planetarium is so popular that tickets are hard to come by. With an investment of 600 million and 58,000 square meters, the vast universe in The Wandering Earth seems to be in front of you, so be sure to squat in advance.
. Shanghai Wildlife Park is also nearby, h giraffes and alpacas, flamingos and zebras, and super Q fennec foxes.

Where can you go in Shanghai for 3 days with a child?
Here is a detailed 3-day itinerary in Shanghai:
Day 1: Arrive at Hongqiao Railway Station at noon, then check in at a homestay on Nanjing East Road. After settling in, start exploring Shanghai.
Remaining time on Day 1: Eat Shengjian Bao on Nanjing East Road - M Bean Flagship Store - Lego Flagship Store - Yu Garden - Return to the accommodation.
Day 2: Shanghai Planetarium - Yuyuan Road - Dingxi Road - Return to the accommodation - The Bund - Daimaru Department Store to experience the turning elevator - Return to the accommodation.
Day 3: Tongji University - Xuhui Academy - Xuhui Catholic Church - Shanghai Center Tower and its surroundings - Yu Garden - Return to the accommodation.
Half day on Day 4: Take the subway from the accommodation to Pudong International Airport, then take the Maglev back, and visit the Maglev Science Museum at the same time. Then leave Shanghai by train at noon.
Summary:
1. Always walking, so shoes are important.
2. Shanghai's Shengjian Bao is really delicious. The Shengjian Bao next to our accommodation is eaten by local residents, and it's not worse than the popular restaurants.
3. Originally wanted to go to Fudan University Handan Campus, but didn't make a reservation. Went to nearby Tongji University instead, which was also very good.
4. If the weather is bad, you can skip the Shanghai Center Tower. We went there on a cloudy and rainy day, but because we were leaving the next day, we still went up, thinking that maybe the clouds were only halfway up, and at least we could see the scenery above the clouds. But after going up, we couldn't see anything in the white fog. However, we didn't go in vain, we took the fastest elevator in the world.
5. Couldn't make a reservation for the Planetarium online, but you can queue up on the spot on the day. We bought tickets on the spot.
6. The peach gum soup with glutinous rice balls and papaya milk at Tangwu Sugar Water House on Yuyuan Road is really delicious, 28 yuan for a bowl.
7. When traveling with a child, you need to be mentally prepared. Whether you can walk or not, whether the child is interested in the places you go, directly affects the quality of the trip. I discussed with my child about the places we went, so the overall atmosphere of the trip was harmonious.
Tips:
1. How to make a reservation to visit Fudan University? Search for 'Fudan Information Office' on WeChat.
2. There are tickets for the Planetarium on the spot, when does the queue start? You can queue up to buy tickets on the spot, the specific time depends on the situation of the day.
I tried to grab tickets for several days but didn't get any. But my child is interested in astronomy, so I checked a lot of strategies at the time, saying that you can also queue up to buy tickets on the spot on the day. I wasn't sure, so I called the Planetarium. The staff answered quite tactfully, 'If there are returned tickets, there will be some tickets on the spot, but you need to queue up early.'
Our situation on the day was like this:
We originally planned to queue up at 8:30 in the morning, but because it was raining and cold in the morning, we were afraid that the child would catch a cold, so we didn't rush and arrived at around 9:20. When we arrived, we started to queue up. Maybe because the weather was bad, there weren't many people in line in front of us. Tickets started to be sold at 9:30, and it took less than 20 minutes for us to enter the venue. We were quite lucky.
Transportation:
1. We took the subway from Nanjing East Road Subway Station to Drip Lake Subway Station, and it took less than an hour and a half without taking the direct Line 16 or the big station bus.
2. Drip Lake Subway Station - Planetarium, you can walk, it's quite close. We took a taxi at the time because we were in a hurry to buy tickets and were afraid of delaying time.
Queue:
There are two queues on the spot, the right queue (near the ticket window) is for buying tickets on the spot, and the other queue is for those who have made reservations online.
Many strategies say that there is already a long queue at 8:30 in the morning, but when we arrived at nearly half past nine, there were only about a hundred people in front of us, so it depends on the situation. Our situation on the day was a working day during the winter vacation and the weather was not very good (it was only raining in the morning, and it had stopped raining when we arrived at the Planetarium).

Shanghai Planetarium
🌟Highlights:
The venue is very large with three floors. Both children and adults have gained knowledge. After coming back, they will draw a planet every day. Many people say that tickets are hard to get, but it's actually okay. Set the alarm at 9:28, tickets start selling at 9:30. There will be five minutes for us to fill in the information, and submit it on time at 9:35 to get the tickets.
⏳Play time:
Because we couldn't make reservations for the movies and activities inside the venue, we played for half a day, but the children were still very happy.
👎Least recommended:
There are too many people, you can't turn around in the first floor venue. Halfway through the queue for the electronic explanation device, they said they were all rented out.
WESTLEY MANNING
Travelogue of Shanghai Planetarium
Address: No. 380, Lingang Avenue, Pudong New Area, Shanghai
Transportation: For green travel, you can take Metro Line 16 to Dishui Lake Station. It is about 70 kilometers from the city if you drive by yourself. There are plenty of parking spaces, but the charging piles are not open to the public.
Tour Experience:
The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum's planetarium branch is also the hardest place to book in Shanghai. The ticket price is very low, and the cost performance is extremely high. It closes at 16:00 on weekdays, and stops admitting visitors at 15:00. After entering the museum, you can borrow an explainer on the right hand side for 20 yuan each, which is very helpful to listen to the explanation while walking, after all, a lot of astronomical knowledge is hard science. On the left hand side of the first floor of the museum, the QR code on the spray painting can be used to book dome and other films. Each film has a fixed playing time, it is recommended to book in advance, ask the specific location and then arrange the visit in your spare time. The core of the entire planetarium is a sphere, the interior is a huge dome cinema, and the exterior is the base of the earth projection. The dome movie 'Vault of Heaven' is beautifully made, but it is a pity that it is relatively short. It ends abruptly when you are still longing for more.
The replica astronomical chart shows the understanding of the starry sky by ancient Chinese astronomers. The moon model with AR equipment can more intuitively understand the moon's ring mountains and the Sea of Tranquility. The Saturn ring model is visually clear.
The meals in the museum restaurant need to be improved. The temporary exhibition on the first floor underground interprets light and shadow through the brushed metal surface, which is also very interesting.
A science popularization and highly interactive exhibition hall, recommended for family parent-child activities.

Internet celebrity check-in landscape - Shanghai Dripping Lake Planetarium
I heard that the tickets are hard to grab, my awesome friend got it done
It's still one drag three haha
We made an appointment for the 12:30 session,
Don't even think about parking
The planetarium's own parking lot has long stopped entering
There is another parking lot 400 meters ahead
(The parking fee seems to be four yuan and five yuan per hour)
Only one car can enter when one car comes out
The queue is all over a dozen cars
If there are friends staying nearby
It is recommended to stop at the hotel
The movie is also booked, um, it's good to sleep.
There are many projects that can only be booked after entering the venue and checking tickets
We didn't have experience this time and didn't make an appointment
Other buddies can pay attention to the public number as soon as they enter
The others are... there are many people
We have a cursory look at a lot of astronomical knowledge
This is completely due to personal ignorance
After taking pictures and watching the movie, we retreated
Oh, his b1 has catering, croissant bread 38, pasta 58 (paper box)
Just give you a reference for this price

Meet under the stars, a romantic journey of the stars at the Shanghai Planetarium!
Although the Shanghai Planetarium, located in the outskirts of Shanghai, has not been completed for a long time, it has always been at the forefront of popular exhibition halls in Shanghai. Although I really want to visit once, it is really difficult to make an appointment for weekend tickets. Make a strategy on the Internet in advance and make an appointment on time, and finally get the admission ticket.
If you drive to the Shanghai Planetarium and encounter a crowded exhibition hall parking lot. You can drive a few hundred meters further, and the free parking lot in the Sponge Park next door is larger and there are more parking spaces.
As expected, the planetarium is hard to get a ticket. The content and display in the exhibition hall are very rich and worth watching. The first thing you get when you enter the exhibition hall is a feast of light and shadow about the universe and planets. In such an atmosphere, the content that originally seemed a bit void and boring also becomes vivid. This can attract the attention of children and get them into the world of astronomy. In the endless universe, everything seems so small. Walking through the star river projection with the shadow, our figure can also appear in it, and it affects the change of the star river. Even the smallest of us is unique. Come to the planetarium, it seems that not only children, but also we adults have time to think.
If you like everything related to astronomy, come here to visit, one day is really not enough. After all, there are many viewing contents to watch. When you come to the planetarium, just slow down and take a closer look!

My visit to the Shanghai Planetarium was a stellar experience that transcended traditional museum expectations. Located in the Lingang area, this cutting-edge institution stands as a beacon of scientific exploration and architectural marvel.
The planetarium's striking design, resembling an otherworldly celestial orb, immediately captured my attention. Inside, state-of-the-art technology brought the universe to life through immersive shows, interactive exhibits, and breathtaking displays. The Dome Cinema, with its high-resolution projections, transported me to distant galaxies and celestial wonders.
Adjacent to the Shanghai Planetarium is the Lingang Big Bamboo Sea, a scenic natural area offering a serene contrast to the cosmic journey. The nearby Dishui Lake added a touch of tranquility, perfect for a leisurely stroll.
The Lingang area is also home to the Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, providing a delightful marine-themed experience for families.
The Shanghai Planetarium is a must-visit for science enthusiasts and curious minds. Its location in Lingang allows for seamless exploration of nearby attractions, creating a perfect blend of cosmic wonder and earthly beauty in the dynamic cityscape of Shanghai. #china #asia #shanghai
