White pristine public beach at Desaru
#mysgmemories
Desaru is another location that Singaporeans love to go
Do you know you can take a ferry to desaru?
This public beach is hidden among the resorts.
You only need to pay 2Rm to park at the carpark and you can enjoy the beautiful beach
Waters are clear, sand is soft. And if you are lucky you will be able to spot people riding horses galloping along the shore.
Do check out this beach when you are nearby and enjoy the waves
desaru for the 70.3 Ironman
Desaru Coast is a coastal resort area in Southeastern Johor, Peninsular Malaysia. The small town of Bandar Penawar serves as the area’s transport hub.
Whether you are traveling alone, with your friends or family, there are more than enough activities to keep your stay fun and awesome and alternatively, if you want to keep it low-key and relaxed, the place can still give you the quiet and peace as it is still laid-back and not too crowded.
For those bringing their kids in tow, there’s the Desaru Coast Adventure Water Park and the Ostrich Farms. If you love nature activities, a trip to the fishing villages in Tanjung Balau and the Desaru Fruit Farm are top options.
And then there’s the food. At 40-50 RM or around 10 USD, you can already feast on affordable seafood as the town is coastal in nature. Keep it local and definitely there will be plenty of affordable but decent food options.
The race started with a rolling start process in front of The Westin Desaru Coast Resort beachfront. The course is an inverted triangle swim, and in a clockwise direction. The swim was relatively smooth except for some little waves near the shore. Feedback from finishers were the presence of tiny shrimp-like creatures, or planktons. That’s open water swim for you and you will get through that.
The last 700m swim back was a hurdle for some, as they were fighting to keep it rightmost on waves that were coming from right to left. From the swim out is a good 200-300 meter jog to the transition area.
Another 200m jog from the transition area greets the athletes from where the bike mount area is. The long transition is worth it as this is one of the best bike courses in the triathlon racing circuit in Asia.
What made the bike course pop out in this review is two things: First, the roads are silky smooth (as Zohan would say it), almost perfect and immaculate road conditions. Second, the canopy of trees and vegetation is a welcome sight, especially in the Jalan Ladang Siang section. With the sun barely out, the canopy provided shade to the athletes. It is truly a refreshing view.
Despite the terrain being rolling and undulating, there is nothing too hard for most trained triathletes, except for a few steep sections. A cassette with 27 or 30 at the back is more than enough. Despite that, the course is not technical and plenty of straight sections can give triathletes time to keep their head down and steady. I thought the course would feature some coastal views, but the roadside view of plants, trees and vegetation does not disappoint.
Course was well marked and plenty of marshals and police/security on hand to control the minimal traffic on the course. On my coverage, there was very minimal vehicle-cyclist interaction, and could say that the bike course was almost exclusive to the participants.
Another long jog to the transition area greets the triathletes after the dismount area. As with any Siutheast Asian race, it should be hot on the

Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Splashing Moments at Adventure Waterpark Desaru 🏊♂️
Weather is hot and all you want to do is soak yourself in a tub or have a nice dip in the pool or just have a splashing good time at a Waterpark. Well, I did the latter and brought my kids to Desaru's Adventure Waterpark to cool off for the summer.
Adventure Waterpark Desaru was massive, there was a water roller coaster ride, a viking ship, water dunk, numerous high and colourful water slides, etc. The place was family friendly and there's even a kids water playground where children of a younger age can play at. A lazy river is there where you can just float by the water and relax, and there's a wave pool which we all love. Overall, the water park is clean and equipped with numerous lockers to keep your belongings. Toilets were plenty and easy to locate if you need to shower after your swim. My kids and I played for hours there and we will be back again for a fun and cool time at Desaru's Adventure Waterpark!

Calming Lotus Seaview Beach Resort
#resortstyle
Lotus Seaview Beach Resort is located at Pengerang, Johor. It is very close to the famous Desaru beach. Much quieter and good for those who are looking for less crowded tourist areas. It is a budget friendly resort with direct access to the beach. The room was basic, the buffet breakfast was decent. I love the ambiance, the coconut trees, and the sound of the waves. So calming and relaxing to stay here. Sometimes we need some quiet time to examine our lives and give the mind an opportunity to refresh.

A must-visit beach at Desaru!
it was an awesome unplanned staycation at Lotus Seaview Beach Spa and Resort. Even though it is quite a distance from the main attraction at Desaru, I bet that you would not regret your stay here. The hotel staff are so, so friendly and helpful. They are kind and really customer-friendly. When we requested for a room nearest to the beach, my friend and I were given an upgraded room without any extra charges.

Adrenaline-fueled watersports fun 🏄🏻♀️
#summerbreak #desaru
If you are looking for some sea sports, you can try out parasailing, jet skiing, family donut ride, banana boat ride at Desaru Beach.
We went to the watersports center at Tunamaya Resort and got a watersports package to do parasailing, family donut, banana boat and band wagon ride.
Each ride takes about 15 mins. Hence we enjoyed over an hour of pure adrenaline-fueled fun at sea!
The staff were great & attentive & we felt safe while doing the water activities.

Living with nature
Desaru coast is a short 90-minute drive or ferry ride from Singapore. It is fairly secluded and has a lot of nature elements. Staying here was pretty comfortable and had most modern facilities available, on top of having beautiful scenery and even some wildlife all around. The weather can be unpredictable so remember to bring your raincoats and windbreakers in case it rains heavily.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Desaru Ostrich Farm Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Hanging Out At Desaru Ostrich Farm
My family and I were in Desaru holidaying and we thought why not bring the kids to hang out with ostriches at Desaru Ostrich farm. The farm was a little out of the way and yes I got to admit it was old and run down. However, it was an educational guided tour with explanations on the ostriches there. The kids also had fun feeding the ostriches and other animals on the farm such as goats and chickens. We were also surprised when an ostrich egg was brought out and we were shown how tough it was. The egg was so heavy and hardy that it can take our human weight and it needed a drill to break open it.
The bird feeds and entrance fees were not expensive and ultimately the kids had fun interacting with the animals there. The area is small so you can cover the farm in less than an hour. A word of caution, do not wear anything shiny or have too many accessories on you, as the ostriches are attracted to them and may peck on you. Some ostriches are free to roam around the farm so do not panic when they are near you. They are actually rather tame. It's a unique experience for us and your kids will equally enjoy their time there.

Desaru Ostrich Farm
Very enjoyable and educational trip to the ostrich farm! 10mins away from Lotus Seaview Pengerang or closer to Sg Rengit is this humble ostrich farm that is suitable for kids to pet and feed the well mannered ostriches and other farm animals .
The restaurant next door also serves ostrich meat satay for those who want to get a taste of the exotic meat as well as ostrich egg omelettes.
Why ostrich bottoms are Botak?
Have you wondered why ostrich bottoms are Botak? saw with my own eyes. The ostriches peaked each other bottoms every so often.
I would highly recommend this ostrich farm as its one of the biggest one I’ve seen. It is well kept and the birds are well taken care of. This place is suitable for all ages. The entrance fee for adults is 20 Rm and kids 15 Rm. you will first listen to a guru taking about this being the biggest ostrich farm in Asian and the ostriches are brought in from Africa. we learned that each ostrich egg can tolerate 100Kg. If u are heavier than that, avoid standing to save a newborn ostrich life. The whole visit will take 30-45 minutes.
Desaru Ostrich Farm
Address:
Jalan Telok Ramunia, Kampung Changi, 81600 Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia
Highlights:
The farm is located behind houses, in case you are surprised by the location. Quite spacious with several containment areas where the ostriches are kept. From the eggs, babies and grown-ups.
The entrance fee is reasonable and food for feeding the animals only cost RM2 per bundle.
There were free-roaming ostriches and they had their own names. I particularly like Lulu and Lily. I enjoyed feeding them, the calmest ostriches I have ever met. You also get to stand on the real ostrich eggs, they won't break!
Other animals like chickens, rabbits, guinea fowls and horses are available too. Good for both kids and adults. The farm was clean and well maintained. Staffs were friendly and informative too. Highly recommended.
