The coffee shop retains many of the characteristics of the observatory, and there are tables and benches in many corners for tourists to sit comfortably and read in the coffee shop. There are also a large number of books stored here, and many old photos of Olu are exhibited, including photos taken by the owner. It is really leisurely and enjoyable to spend a day sitting here.

Many people claim that this is the best beach in Finland. Well, I’m not sure about it but it’s definitely one of the best ones. Nallikari beach is located only about three kilometers to the north from the center of Oulu. The place consists of a park area suitable for picnic under a tree on a grassy surface, a beach and a restaurant. There are also a few places where beach visitors can bbq their food. There are not too many services but the view to the sea is amazing. Who could resist going to a swim after a hot day? Instead, we experienced Finland's most representative mode of transportation—the VR Santa Claus Express sleeper train. Departing from Rovaniemi at night, the train heads south for about twelve hours, arriving in Helsinki early the next morning. The carriages are clean and comfortable. The rooms feature bunk beds, and some room types even include an en-suite bathroom. Although the space isn't large, it's fully equipped and perfect for long-distance travel. Before sleeping, watching the Lapland forests slowly retreat out the window, you unknowingly drift into dreamland. Waking up the next day, the scenery outside has changed to the familiar forests and lakes of southern Finland, and the train slowly pulls into Helsinki Central Station. It saves you from the exhaustion of travel, saves a night's accommodation fee, and allows you to fully experience the charm of Finnish railway travel. ⸻ A Perfect End to the Journey Starting from Helsinki, taking the Finnish railway all the way north through Vaasa and Oulu, finally arriving at Rovaniemi in the Arctic Circle, and then taking the comfortable sleeper train back to Helsinki—this journey connects the completely different urban landscapes of northern and southern Finland. There are historic ports, quiet and simple northern towns, an unforgettable Santa Claus Village, and a comfortable and convenient railway system, making the trip itself the most beautiful memory. If I were to recommend a way to travel that deeply explores Finland, I would definitely choose this "Finnish Transcontinental Railway Journey." The statue is called Toripolliisi in Finnish. it has an additional letter L in the word poliisi (policeman) due to the local dialect in Oulu. The statue is located right at the entrance of the market hall in Oulu market square and it faces the sea and the tiny island of Kiikelj very near the coastline. It was made of Bronze by sculptor Kaarlo Mikkonen in 1987 and it was named in honor of the bobbies or policemen once patrolling at the market square. It was funded with the help of public. Oulu marketplace is a vivid summer destination with a different feeling from southern cities market places (such as Helsinki). For me as someone coming from the south, there are a lot of vibes from the northern Finland and even the close border of Sweden. The question which restaurant offers the best burgers in Oulu is indeed a hard question to answer since it’s a city with absolutely fantastic burgers. Although I respect Cafe Rooster as well, I chose Kauppuri 5 as my destination this time. It’s a legendary burger restaurant and bar in Oulu downtown located in address Kauppurienkatu 5 easily within walking distance from every downtown hotel. The main product is the teurastaja (butcher) burger which can be selected as a single (250 g) or multiply the amount of meat until it contains 1 kg of meat. Anyway all the products are very solid and strong and you probably won’t ever be disappointed. The restaurant is mid-priced and I almost guarantee that with some 20 euros everyone is able to fill their stomachs.
