Just a two hour train from Sarajevo or a bus journey from Dubrovnik/Split you will be transported to the magical Mostar. Walk towards the old town and be met by the beautiful ottoman bridge that is standing proud after centuries. The old town is full of charming shops perfect for souvenirs. You can buy some stunning ceramics, Bosnian coffee sets and local sweet (Rahat Lokum), perfect to go with your coffee. There is plenty of restaurants, I recommend to try a very famous dish all over the Balkans, cevapí. In a corner of the old town you will find the War and Genocide museum. This museums describes the atrocities of the war in Bosnia between 1992-95. The museum will make you very emotional but will give you an insight of the history of the country and show how strong Bosnian people are. If you have a day extra, you can take a local Muslim to Blagaj Tekka. A beautiful dervish monastery build into the mountain. It’s a gorgeous ottoman architectural piece and the museum itself it’s very interesting. The area near it has a lot of restaurants but the local Buna river and scenery is unforgettable. #adventuremoments

Stari Most, also known as Mostar Bridge, is a rebuilt 16th-century Ottoman bridge in the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina that crosses the river Neretva and connects the two parts of the city. On 9 November 1993 Stari Most collapsed due to shelling by the Croatian Defence Council during the Croat–Bosniak War. In 2017, the appeal court deemed that destruction was legal since the bridge was a military target as the opposing Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina used it as a military supply line. Subsequently, a project was set in motion to reconstruct it; the rebuilt bridge opened on 23 July 2004. We were lucky to do a day trip here on a beautiful sunny day from Dubrovnik, Croatia. We had a lovely stroll in the old town, crossing Stari Most, stopped for a delicious local lunch and had enough time to walk down to the river for the spectacular views and photos of the bridge.

#2023travelwish My trip to Mostar, one of the city of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an unplanned day trip from Dubrovnik. Was told that the main attraction of Mostar, is the Stari Most – the Old Bridge. The Old Bridge was originally constructed during the Ottoman period.The Old Bridge replaced the wooden suspension bridge that had previously existed on site. Another Surprise sight is a statue of Bruce Lee which I come across while exploring.Also worth exploring is the bazaar on the either side of the street which I can try some local food . It was indeed as unforgettable trip . Day trip is definitely too short will hope I will be able to visit her for a free days next time

Used Trip.com to find a trip from 🇨🇿 to 🇧🇦 for less than €10! I flew into Tuzla, stayed in Sarajevo and took a day trip to Mostar (pictured). Although the public transportation was less documented in terms of timetables, I had no trouble at all getting around by bus and train. What a beautiful country of both people and landscape- I will certainly be returning!
