Look up and you’ll see snowy mountains and lake views—super healing. 📍Madison Park Beach (P8-13) Though the shoreline is small, it’s close to downtown, making it ideal for weekend relaxation and a post-meal walk. It’s hard to imagine what worries the people living in the building right in front could have. P.S. 🅿️ Plenty of parking spots, and nearby street parking is also fairly convenient.

I had heard that cruises get a bad reputation, that cruisers get easily bored on the ship and tend to over-sleep and over-eat, but my first experience was on the Discovery Princess to Alaska, and I would highly recommend this cruise to everyone! Princess has a packed itinerary of daily activities for everyone, so nobody has an excuse to get bored. The ship is massive and new - there’s pools and a fitness center on the top decks, a huge theater, tons of restaurants and a buffet. The spa area is also popular. We didn’t do land excursions, but managed to explore the port cities on foot and had a great time! #cruise #cruiseship #alaska

Two must-see attractions in Seattle, Kerry Park and Pike Market. I went to a city, I like to go to the heights, and I like to go to the market. On the high side, you can overlook the panoramic view of the city, while in the market, you can feel the fireworks on earth. Many people choose the highest building space needle in the city at the Ascend in Seattle, but I recommend Kerry Park, which is a little further from the city, because the space needle itself can be seen here. Walking along, inadvertently went to the door of the world's first Starbucks, with a mottled plate "1912" at the door. Go in and order a cup of caramel latte and buy a bag of coffee beans that are said to be available only in this world. There are no seats in the store, some people havetily took away the coffee, and some people stand by the window and chat while chatting. There is a disabled person at the door who sings and sings my favorite old man.

My experience around Mount Washington during fall was a great combination of mountain scenery and colorful foliage. I enjoyed looking across the surrounding landscape and seeing forests covered in different shades of yellow, orange, and red. The higher I went, the more dramatic the environment became, while the colorful forests remained visible below. I spent plenty of time taking photos but also enjoyed simply watching the clouds and changing light over the mountains. The Chirashi Bowl and Wagyu Seafood Bowl, in particular, were eye-catching the moment they hit the table 😍 The ingredients are layered beautifully with great colors and depth—it's super photogenic 📷 Plus, the portions were much bigger than I expected! The Wagyu was a bit greasy, though. Overall, the ingredients were fresh and the seafood had a good texture. However, if you're someone who's really looking for top-tier sashimi and cares a lot about the grade of the fish and that ultimate melt-in-your-mouth sweetness, I don't think this is the best choice. For me, it's more of a bowl that hits the mark on presentation, portion size, and overall experience, rather than a place you go specifically for high-end sashimi. 2️⃣ Chirashi Bowl This one also makes a huge visual impact when it arrives! The bowl is packed with various sashimi, the portion is generous, and it's quite satisfying. 3️⃣ Green Pesto Ramen This is one of their signature dishes! The green broth looks really unique 😂 I'd only ever had similar green ramen in San Francisco, so I was curious to try it. The pesto aroma pairs surprisingly well with the ramen—it has a bit of a Western herb vibe, but it still feels like ramen. If you like trying unconventional ramen flavors, I think it's worth a shot. Overall, I'd say Ramen Nori is the kind of Japanese restaurant that easily catches your eye at first glance. The plating is genuinely beautiful, the portions are generous, and the ingredients are fresh. But if you ask me: "Is this the best place in Seattle for top-tier sashimi?" I'd say not necessarily. If you care more about presentation, portion size, creative combinations, and the overall dining experience, then I think you should give it a try. If you’ve traveled all the way to the University of Washington in Seattle and don’t feel like trekking across the entire campus, just head straight to Drumheller Fountain. Honestly, this spot is the definition of "blessed by the weather." On one of Seattle’s rare sunny days, when the water is spraying, the snow-capped Mount Rainier sits perfectly framed right behind the fountain. No filters needed—even a random snap looks like a postcard. It’s so beautiful it feels surreal. But on a gray, rainy day? Well, it’s just an ordinary, plain pool. 📸 Best Photo Spot: Stand at the top of the grand stairs in Red Square for the best perspective. If it’s crystal clear and you can see the peaks, grab your camera and go. If the clouds are low, you're better off grabbing a coffee nearby and waiting for the sky to clear so you aren't disappointed. Visiting the ice falls in 14°F (-10°C) weather—my face was completely frozen numb. Not sure whose car that is in Photo 5, but it’s become a new landmark on the road. Big thanks to the hiking group for organizing, and for sharing a cup of hot apple cider—it brought me right back to life. ❄️ Franklin Falls This is a classic short hike near Seattle. Located on the east side of I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass, it’s about a one-hour drive from Seattle. The waterfall drops in several tiers, with the tallest section reaching about 135 feet (41 meters). During spring, summer, and fall, the forest trail leads you right to the base, where you can get an up-close view of the water cascading down the rock face. The round trip is usually about 2 miles (3.2 km) with a total elevation gain of around 400 feet (120 meters). However, winter conditions are a whole different story: ❄️ Heavy snow ❄️ Thick ice ❄️ Slippery trails Microspikes or traction gear are often required.

I didn't have any plans for the weekend and didn't want to go too far, so I drove to Medina Beach Park. It's very peaceful here, with a beautiful environment. Mount Rainier is right across the lake, perfect for relaxing. Sitting on a bench, watching the yachts pass by, looking at the lake, and gazing at the snow-capped mountain, an afternoon passed by in a flash. Finally, we’ve started hiking with the kid again! Last week, we warmed up at Bridle Trails, and this weekend, we headed to Paradise Valley. It was our first time here, and the vibe is quite similar to Bridle Trails—forest trails, easy paths, minimal elevation gain, suitable for walking, horseback riding, and even biking. After half a year of not carrying the kid, I can definitely feel the weight increase. With the backpack, water, and snacks, it’s probably around 40 pounds now. It’s getting harder to carry, but the kid still enjoys sitting in the carrier. Yesterday, they scraped their knee, which gave them an excuse not to walk, saying, "I can’t walk, Daddy carry me." As usual, they fell asleep while being carried. We’re currently potty training, and thankfully, there were no accidents. Drive & Parking: About a 15-minute drive. The parking lot is quite spacious, but there are some potholes inside, so drive slowly if your car has a low clearance. Not sure if a pass is required. Address is in photo 2. Trail Data: We didn’t follow the AllTrails route but instead made a clockwise loop based on the map. My watch recorded 5 miles, 285 feet elevation gain, and 2 hours 25 minutes, including a break while waiting for others (photo 3). Trail Conditions: The paths are generally good, mostly through the forest. Some sections had puddles but weren’t muddy. Clothing: Temperature was around 20°C, cloudy. Top: quick-dry hoodie + hardshell. Later, it got a bit warm, and since it didn’t rain, I took off the hardshell. Bottom: quick-dry pants. Shoes: Speedgoat + gaiters. Gear: Deuter Kid Comfort Pro Child Carrier, water, snacks. Scenery: Forest views. Traffic: Not too many hikers, but quite a few bikers. We gave way to them several times, and they were all polite—no reckless riders without signals. Weekly Hiking Plan

Today, we visited Snow Lake, which is about a 50-minute drive away. The snow just melted last week, making this week perfect for hiking. The best time to hike here is from late June to September. The trail involves uphill climbing to a high point, followed by a descent to the lakeside, which can be tough on the knees. Maintaining a steady pace during the climb makes it less exhausting. About two-thirds of the trail is exposed to the sun, and the path is rocky, making it somewhat challenging to walk. This trail is slightly harder than Lake 22 and is considered moderately difficult. Parking: Snow Lake Trailhead, Alpental Access Rd, North Bend, WA 98045 Roundtrip: 7.2 miles (approximately 4 hours) Elevation Gain: 1800 ft (total ascent) Parking Pass/Entry Fee: $5 day fee/Northwest Forest Pass Distance: 50-minute drive from East Seattle Note: No signal, so download offline maps. Bring trekking poles. Use sunscreen. Arrive early; although the parking lot is large, it gets sunny later in the day. There is a restroom at the parking area, an open-air restroom along the trail, but none near the lake. Bring your own food and water. Known as one of the busiest hiking destinations in Washington State, Snow Lake Trail truly lives up to its reputation. Even on a hot Sunday, the parking lot was almost full by 10 a.m. About 10-20% of the trail is exposed without tree cover, so it's recommended to wear a sun hat on sunny days. The path from the summit down to the lake still has patches of unmelted snow, making it quite challenging to navigate, with muddy sections and large loose rocks along the way. The trail conditions are not ideal, and it's worth noting that mosquitoes 🦟 can be abundant in July. However, the stunning lake view is undeniably the highlight of the hike. The unique blue hue of the glacial-fed lake is unforgettable. Despite the chilly water, some adventurous visitors were seen testing the waters in their swimsuits along the lakeshore.

Last weekend, I visited Snowfalls Lavender Farm, located about a 30-minute drive from Seattle's Eastside. The farm is open daily until 7:30 PM, making it perfect for catching the golden hour after work during summer. Unlike vast lavender estates, this farm is situated in a residential area with a more modest setting. So, don't set your expectations too high upon arrival. However, with the right angles and lighting, you can still capture stunning photos. Admission is just $5 per person, and you can take unlimited photos. Plus, you get to cut and take home 50 lavender stems. The farm offers both purple and white lavender, allowing you to mix and match or pick your favorite color. Initially, I thought cutting 50 stems would be quick, but by the time I reached 25 stems, I was already counting frantically, wondering why I hadn't hit 50 yet. Turns out, manual labor can be quite tiring! After cutting, the farm owner ties your bouquet with a rubber band. Once home, you don't need to place the lavender in water. Simply keep it in a dry spot away from moisture, and it will gradually turn into dried flowers, leaving your home with a subtle lavender fragrance for a long time. ‼️ For those afraid of bees, consider carefully The lavender field is buzzing with chubby little bees 🐝. Personally, I'm not a fan of bugs, so I was hesitant at first. But since I was already there, I mustered the courage to enter the field. I stayed for about 45 minutes and wasn't stung at all. These bees are mostly focused on collecting nectar and generally won't bother you unless you wave your hands around or try to touch them. The farm owner mentioned that the lavender field is expected to remain open until around August 10th, so plan your visit soon! 30-minute drive, $5 admission, and 50 lavender stems to take home—go for it! 💜
