These Danxia landforms display colorful hues, some resembling the crater mountains on Mars, some like the colorful rainbow after rain, and others like coral reefs under the sea... The exhibition hall within the residence displays historical footprints left by the Tenth and Eleventh Panchen Lamas in Xiangride. Why is it called the "First Town"? The guide explained—it was the first officially established town in Haixi Prefecture and has the largest population among all towns in the prefecture. The town has 118,400 acres of permanent arable land, accounting for one-tenth of the prefecture’s cultivated area, earning it the reputation of "Qaidam’s Granary." Inside the exhibition hall, old artifacts tell the story of Xiangride’s development. A simple Han Chinese stove, for example, changed the local ethnic minorities’ habit of cooking with three-pronged pots over 60 years ago. The most eye-catching section is the "World High Yield Record" display. In 1984, the spring wheat yield here broke 1006.65 kilograms per mu, setting a record at the time. 03 Afternoon Stroll by the Xiangride River In the afternoon, I went to the Xiangride Bridge, where the scenery was refreshing. On the 13th day of the trip, we left Qarhan Salt Lake and drove 451 km for 6 hours to Dulan, where we stayed overnight. The next morning, on the 14th day of the trip, we went to Dulan Haersi Flower Sea Scenic Area. The most interesting thing was that we went up the mountain very early and met several groups of wild pheasants on the road. They were chirping on the mountain road and stopped in confusion when they saw our car. We were so excited that we stopped the car to take pictures. As soon as they saw us approaching, they immediately ran into the grass in the mountains in panic. They were so fast that we didn't have time to take pictures of their small figures. There are some wooden houses and yurts in Haersi Flower Sea Scenic Area. I don't know if we went too early or if the peak season was over. Since its discovery in 1982, the Reshui tomb complex has undergone four large-scale archaeological excavations, uncovering nearly a hundred tombs and unearthing artifacts such as silk fabrics, Sogdian gold and silverware, agate beads, red etched beads, copper plate fragments, and copper perfume bottles, which strongly prove that the region was an important node on the Silk Road—Qinghai Route. The excavation of the Reshui tomb complex in Qinghai Dulan is of great significance for the study of the history of the Tubo civilization, the burial forms in the western regions of China during the Tang Dynasty, the cultural exchanges between the local area and Central Asia, as well as discussions on the origins of the Tibetan ethnic group. The Reshui Tubo tomb complex is located about 10 kilometers southeast of Chahanwusu in Dulan County, in Reshui Township. It is an early Tang Dynasty large-scale Tubo tomb complex and is also the first Tubo tomb discovered in China, with more than 200 tombs. The Reshui tomb complex is distributed within a 7-kilometer-long area across the villages of Reshui, Zhamari, Sha'ertang, and Xiewai, including 165 types of tombs, most of which have been looted. From 1982 to 1986, the Qinghai Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology excavated and organized the site. The tombs in the area are mainly divided into trapezoidal and circular shapes. The tomb mounds are built with rammed earth or covered with rammed earth after being filled with gravel, with layers of sand willow branches laid between the tamping layers. Below the rammed earth, there are stone walls with isosceles trapezoidal planes, with adobe or mud balls laid on the edges, and red stone powder applied on the outside. The tomb chambers are built with stone blocks, consisting of a tomb passage, a central chamber, left and right side chambers, and a rear chamber. The Reshui tomb complex all have earthen seals, and in front of the earthen seals, there are huge sacrificial pits, from which wooden chariots, wooden slips, silk fabrics, glassware, gold and silverware, and other relics have been unearthed. Some of the unearthed objects have a strong Central Asian artistic style. In October 2022, it was learned from the Reshui Joint Archaeological Team that the 2022 archaeological work on the Reshui tomb complex in Qinghai Dulan made new progress. Archaeological experts discovered through protective cleaning and excavation that the 2007QM1 cemetery and the 2018 Xuewei No. 1 tomb have similar forms, and both have comparable scales. The next step is to plan a comprehensive survey of the northern area of the Reshui tomb complex.
