Zhangjiajie Cuisine

Only after arriving in Zhangjiajie did I realize that besides the 'Three Pots', you must try the baby fish. Zhangjiajie, known for its good water quality, is home to the giant salamander. The Impression Giant Salamander Banquet Restaurant is a famous eatery in Zhangjiajie, with one located right at the entrance of the 72 Wonders Pavilion, boasting a pleasant environment. Another larger one is in Wulingyuan. You can see it as soon as you come to the 72 Wonders Pavilion; the entrance is quite impressive. On the first floor, you can buy baby fish soup dumplings and grilled baby fish skewers. You should try them; the soup dumplings are very authentic, sweet and fresh, and the skewers are surprisingly delicious, with a full meaty texture. Their signature dishes are the Spicy Ginger Baby Fish and the Tujia Style Three-Roll Baby Fish. I love spicy food, so I ordered the Spicy Ginger Baby Fish. It's really well stewed and comes with bamboo shoots and chestnuts, highly recommended! Other stir-fries are also good, with authentic Xiangxi flavors, very appetizing. The Giant Salamander Banquet at the 72 Wonders Pavilion also offers Zhangjiajie souvenirs for purchase, with gifts modeled after the giant salamander, making it a suitable place for those who want to bring home special gifts from Zhangjiajie.
