Penglai Pavilion | Mirage and illusions all but real, one is not a fairy until reaching Penglai

An immortal island from Chinese pre-Qin mythology, located at the northernmost tip of the Shandong Peninsula, bordering the Yellow and Bohai Seas, it is one of the first batch of national 5A-level scenic spots, and one of the four famous towers in China (Yellow Crane Tower, Yueyang Tower, Tengwang Pavilion), known worldwide for the 'Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea' and the 'Mirage'. The pavilions, towers, and halls are beautifully arranged, including the Sanqing Hall, Lvzu Hall, Huxian Hall, Sugong Temple, Tianhou Palace, Dragon King Palace, Penglai Pavilion, and Mituo Temple. The legend of the 'Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea', each displaying their magical powers, originates from here. Surrounded by clouds and supported by waves, it is also the perfect spot to observe the mirage. There is a thousand-year-old Tang locust tree preserved here, which is a rare sight with its green shade like a canopy, especially in the deep autumn.
