The breathtaking Ta'er Monastery! A must-visit spot in Xining!

Ta'er Monastery is the closest Tibetan Buddhist temple to downtown Xining with significant influence, and there are still living Buddhas inside, although it's generally very difficult for us to see them. When going up the mountain, be sure to walk slowly, do not walk too fast, and absolutely do not run. Because Xining itself is at a bit of a high altitude, even a slightly faster pace can make your heart beat very quickly, and the temple is built in a place surrounded by mountains on all sides. The architecture of this monastery is slightly different from the Tibetan Buddhist temples in Lhasa, in that it incorporates both the styles of Central Plains Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism. The golden wind birds on the roof, as well as the exquisitely and brilliantly managed butter sculptures, will absolutely dazzle you, and if you go during this season, the flowers inside are blooming profusely. I want to emphasize again here, do not take photos of the Buddha statues with your phone or camera. It is a big taboo and is considered a disrespectful way to treat religion. I still highly recommend everyone to go and see it, Ta'er Monastery is really great.
