For military considerations, they chose this easy-to-defend and hard-to-attack place, and gave it a name called Wusheng, which means 'win by martial arts'. The name of Wusheng County also comes from this. After the Mongolian army retreated, it became a place where people gathered and gradually formed a town. The prosperity of the ancient town in the past came from the convenient waterway transportation on the Jialing River. When the Jialing River, which is thousands of miles long, passed through the ancient town, it stopped the roaring of the river and formed a calm river section of more than a thousand meters. It is an ideal natural harbor. The passing merchant ships all docked here, bringing Qinling medicinal materials, Xiang'e cotton yarn, Neijiang sugar, local miscellaneous grains and other materials to Nanchong, Langzhong, Guangyuan, and down to Hechuan, Chongqing, becoming an important material distribution center and famous wharf in eastern Sichuan and northern Sichuan. The street is paved with stone slabs, narrow and deep. There is a small stream in the middle of the ancient town, and there are many stilted buildings along the stream. Half-side Street was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and has a history of more than 300 years. It runs from south to north, with a street width of about 3 meters and a length of about 500 meters. It is named because most of the houses are built on the east side of the stream. The streets of Half-side Street have completely preserved the characteristics of the stone-paved streets of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The buildings in the block are in a ladder-style two-entry style, and there are many gallery-style buildings facing the street, with shops downstairs and people living or storing goods upstairs. 🕍Key Buildings | Ma's Mosque, with a total area of more than 600 square meters, was built in the 43rd year of Qianlong (1778) and is now a city-level and county-level key cultural relics protection unit. The buildings of the mosque include the temple gate, main hall, side hall, prayer platform, scripture hall, water room, Axun residence, and inner and outer courtyards. The design of the entire temple follows the tradition of Islamic culture and has a strong Islamic style. The roof of the main hall adopts a double-eave Xieshan-style design and a stacked beam structure.  Guanyin Temple, also known as Huafa Temple, was built in the 22nd year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1424) and rebuilt in the 49th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty. It consists of the front hall, main hall, rear hall, and left and right wing rooms. Only the front hall, main hall, and some wing rooms are left, covering an area of about 2000 square meters and a building area of 600 square meters.
