Not Just Animals, Ueno Zoo in Tokyo

You will be surprised that you not only can see animals in the Zoo, but also amazing traditional Japanese architecture, the Five-Story Pagoda Kyu Kaneiji. Kaneiji is a Tendai Buddhist Temple founded in 1625. According to Wikipedia, there was a Battle of Ueno and the destruction of Kan'ei-ji in 1898. There was a signboard explaining the history of this structure. The pagoda is located near the East Gate of Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, surrounded by beautiful trees. In autumn, the maple trees turn red, the area looks so stunning. Another main attraction is the Polar Bear exhibit, other than Giant Pandas. Ueno Zoo is about an eight-minute walk from JR Ueno Station.
