Taoyuan Old Street

The last stop of the Northern Jiangsu tour is Taizhou. It takes more than an hour to drive from Gaoyou to Taizhou, and we stayed near the old street of Taoyuan Road. It's about a five-minute walk, so we had all our meals on the old street during our two days in Taizhou. The old street actually runs parallel to two streets. The entrance is the Taoyuan Scenic Area, which is currently being renovated. There is a square in front of the gate, with lights and decorations. Walking along the right hand side is the real old street, with a stage, folk shops, two shops selling Huangqiao sesame cakes, and many snack shops. The whole length is about 800 meters. The street on the left is accessible by car, and the larger restaurants are all on this side. We had breakfast and dinner in Haitangchun, Guyuelou, and Old Taizhou. The Taizhou breakfast is well-known, and I was impressed by the fish soup dumplings at Guyuelou.
