【Zhejiang Shaoxing City - Mausoleum of Yu the Great at Mount Kuaiji】

⛰【Travel Guide】 The Mausoleum of Yu the Great, also known as Yu Cave, is the burial site of Yu the Great. It is backed by Mount Kuaiji, facing Yu Pond, located at the foot of Mount Kuaiji outside the Southeast Kuaiji Gate of Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, 3 kilometers away from Shaoxing city center. Yu the Great was a hero of water control in ancient times, the founding monarch of China's first dynasty, the Xia Dynasty, and is revered by later generations as the 'Ancestor of the State'. During the Hongwu period of Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, the Mausoleum of Yu the Great was designated as one of the 36 royal mausoleums to be officially commemorated nationwide. I didn't have much expectation for this attraction, it was included in the combo ticket, so I just came to have a look, but it turned out to be the most stunning! Highly recommended! The mausoleum is very large, the bronze statue on the mountain is majestic and impressive! There are more than 970 steps to climb the mountain, which is a bit challenging, but there are signs every 50 steps, which are very detailed, making for a great experience. Highly recommend going up the mountain to take a look, it's definitely worth the trip. Thumbs up to the Shaoxing government for placing such importance on the construction and management of the Mausoleum of Yu the Great!!!
