Michelin dining in Shanghai

Ren He Guan is a Shanghainese-cuisine restaurant located at 407 Zhaojiabang Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai which has been awarded a 1 Michelin star, making it one of the Michelin-recognized venues for local Shanghai cuisine. The interior is styled in a nostalgic “old-Shanghai / 1920s/30s” vibe — think dim lights, retro decor, maybe even live music at times, which adds charm beyond just the food. Ren He Guan is known for classic Shanghainese dishes. Some of the most recommended ones: Crab-meat / Crab-roe Rice (蟹粉捞饭) — often cited as a must-try, and one of the most talked-about dishes there and its really superb. Another is their Red-braised Pork Belly (红烧肉, “hong shao rou”) — tender, flavorful, one of the restaurant’s top picks. “Squirrel Mandarin Fish” (a classic sweet-and-sour dish) was another of our favorite, giving variety for meat-lovers, seafood fans, or even veggie-inclined folks. The Zhaojiabang Road branch (the one with the Michelin star) is known to get very busy. Walk-ins often face long queues, so advisable to make your reservations.
