Turtle-ly unforgettable Selingan Island

A trip to Crystal Quest’s Selingan Island (Turtle Island) was truly an experience to cherish…. This idyllic island is almost untouched with pristine beaches with a ‘problem’… the sandy beach has many “craters” (caused by the turtles of course…. ) The only accommodations here are four chalets with 6 cosy and comfortable rooms each hidden away in the “jungle”…. No one is allowed on the beach between 6pm and 6am… unless accompanied by a ranger to view one of the first mother turtles laying her eggs and releasing the first batch of hatchlings… We got to see this 40 year old green turtle lay 89 eggs which was then transplanted to the turtle nursery/hatchery for conservation and safety purposes by Sabah Park Ranger You also get to witness the eggs transplanted safely at the turtle hatchery and check for baby hatchlings.. since it was a rainy night… there were pretty quite a number of hatchlings… But seriously all in all, the experience here with the turtles is truly a priceless one… #sabah #bahmarilah #tourismmalaysiasabah #sandakantourismassociation #nationalgeographic #turtleisland #pulauselingan #livelifelah #whattodoinsandakan
