Longda New Bridge - PUENTE NUEVO DE RONDA

Ronda, Md laga, Andalucia, Espana The Puente Nuevo spans the El Tajo Gorge, dividing the picturesque and historic city of Longda in two. ·Puente Nuevo is the newest and largest of the three bridges spanning a 120-meter deep valley in Longda. It was first built in 1751 and took 42 years to complete. The bridge is as high as 98 meters, equivalent to a 30-story building. The arch of the bridge in the middle conceals a room of about 60 square meters, which used to be a detention center for death row inmates. It is now closed and can only be viewed from a distance from the side of the bridge. Puente Nuevo is one of the most photographed buildings in Spain. Standing at the foot of the gorge, one may feel as if in a dream: rows of white houses perched on the steep cliffs, like white clouds spreading from the mountain slopes to the sky.
