Prague's Oldest Bridge

Charles Bridge is a medieval stone arch bridge that crosses the Vltava river, in the past, it was the only means of crossing and the most important connection between Prague Castle and the city's Old Town until 1841. The bridge is 516 meters long and 9.5 meters wide, 13 meters high, it was built between 1357 and 1402 under the auspices of King Charles IV. It was built as a bow bridge with 16 arches and is protected by three bridge towers. From 1683 to 1928, 30 statues of saints were carved to decorate the bridge. Beginning in 1965, all the statues have been systematically replaced by replicas, and the originals have been exhibited in the Lapidarium of the National Museum. You can take trams 1, 2, 17, 18 , 25 and 93 to Karlovy lazne stop and walk around 240 meters 3 minutes.
