Madrid Square

Plaza Mayor is located in the centre of Madrid, in the Sol neighborhood, next to Calle Mayor and 400 meters away from the nearest metro station Sol ( Line 1, 2 and 3 ). Measuring 129 meters long by 94 meters wide and is surrounded by arcades and three storey brick buildings. The Plaza Mayor had been a meeting place, announcements and civil celebrations. In addition, it is loaded with commemorative plaques, historical places and other symbols of great value. The Felipe III statue that was moved to Plaza Mayor from Casa de Campo in 1848. Plaza Mayor is an iconic place in Madrid that is always packed with people, both locals and tourists.
