Macau | The Rose Hall with over 400 years of history

In 1587, it was built by the Spanish Dominicans and is also known as the Rose Hall, Camphor Hall or Igreja de São Domingos. Together with the Camphor Hall Square in front of the church, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Historic Centre of Macau. The original church was built of wooden boards and was called "Ban Zhang Tang" by the Chinese. It was not until the 17th century that it was changed to a brick and stone structure. In 1874, it was burned down in a fire and was rebuilt that same year to its current size. Before May 13th every year, the church holds a nine-day tribute. On the afternoon of the 13th, there will be a grand procession of holy images, which is a representative Catholic festival activity in Macau. On the third floor to the right of the Rose Hall is the Holy Relics Treasury, exhibiting over 300 cultural relics from the Macau Catholic Church, including silverware, bronze ware, gilded ware, ivory statues used in Mass, and more.
